Because before bungie nerfed them they were the most bitchy weapons in pvp. "Just turned a corner? TOO BAD because a guy pre charging his fusion rifle every 5 seconds was waiting for you and you had NO chance of recovering from that". It's the cheap one hit kills that you can't do ANYTHING against that kill multiplayer
