TTK is actually worth it's price and how we should stop ignoring guardians from foreign countries

It's worth it

Now a lot of things have been said lately about TTK and it's pricing not being in alignment with the amount of Content offered. Looking at this objectively, I have to disagree. First off, let's look at what came in Vanilla Destiny to begin with shall we: 20 Story missions 11 crucible arenas (including exclusives) 6 Subclasses 6 strikes (including exclusives) 4 Patrol Areas 4 Crucible game modes (the originals being clash, control, salvage, and skirmish) 1 Raid Now, let's take all of that and look at what is being offered in TTK (that we know of): 10 new story missions 8 new crucible arenas 3 new subclasses 4 new strikes (including exclusives) 1 new patrol area (This is probably where it hurts content the most, but I am getting to that) 3 new crucible game modes (at least) 1 new raid. You may ask "Well why does it matter? It's still less content", and this is my point. Taking all the above and putting them into fractions we can find the percentage of what each one was to the original. So, this is what it would look like: 10/20=0.50 8/11=0.72 3/6=0.50 4/6=0.67 1/4=0.25 3/4=0.75 1/1=1.0 Now, if we take all of these combine them and find the average, it comes out to about 0.62(or 62%), just barely missing the 66% mark or 2/3rd of the original content(and price), but the thing within this is that there is more than just the above being added. We are also get new weapon types, ghost shells, Iron Banner is actually getting it's own set, and much more. The Taken king is a huge leap for Destiny, we are getting so much new stuff (and yes I know that some people will have access some of the new features, but that is how expansions work most of the time) and it honestly seems like people are judging it way too harshly for the amount of content they are receiving for the price they are paying. Let's step back about 15 years ago. Getting an expansion in this time for any type of RPG cost about the same amount as The Taken King, you might be lucky if you got one new area to play in and maybe 1-2 new characters to play with again with a $40 price tag accompanying it and sometimes it was even REQUIRED to be able to play with your friends. Even worse there are actual fans of this game that are being ignored entirely. In foreign countries people are having to PAY EXTRA for their digital copies because Activision refuses to change it. When people bring it up, others in the community tell them just to not pay for it or get a job. This is actually unfair to these players and it should be fixed. Someone should not have to pay more just because a company doesn't understand exchange rates. With that however, I bid you all farewell. I hope that you all enjoy TTK and for those that still think it's a waste....I hope that you enjoy your other games as well.

  • Should also b noted that the red bull "quest" is a ttk "story line/arc" excerpt that has been contracted to redbull for exclusivity until Jan 2016 for products only sold in the USA. At end of contract the content will be released to all purchasers of ttk. Wondering why my overpriced £40 which as no one can argue is an inflated value in comparable price when matched with the USA, is already confirmed to have content removed for which apparently I'm already paying for in order that bungie/activision can generate income from completely unrelated merchandising that alienated the entire planet except of course the USA for 5 months. Now when the content is finally released will it b released so close to a new dlc drop that the desire to do it at that point is negated. Kinda like the exclusive content that's dropping finally for xbox. Who wants last year's exotic exclusives now that they are not moving with the game. Thanks bungie, due to the current business/contract model you have, you clearly shown that for the same pricing for all formats you really are holding back content that frankly shouldn't be because you have now made it obsolete before we even got to try the content that in fairness we paid for just like everyone did on playstation systems. I understand business's require to make money but excluding part of your target audience in this manner is probably going to backfire when people realise just how cut up this game will become when bungie/activision are offered piles of money to cut content to sell (insert any brand). They clearly will pretty much do anything to make cash from this product including cutting content which they have now confirmed when it does become available it will be obsolete. I for one have cancelled my preorder of ttk. Please also understand that I am a massive fan of destiny and am thankful for the friends that I have made thus far on my journey, however it appears that no matter how much I try to love my favourite game and defend it as often as I do, I will be moving on to new pastures with friends for other reasonably priced and non excluding games for which there are many. Sorry bungie but for me from my point of view you appear to care very little about your consumers and even less about the ones on xbox systems. Your end of year and going forwards plans are now transparent for all to see.
