I'm sure some people from the LGBTS community took offense to the joke, but there is also a large portion of people who weren't necessarily offended by the joke. Not being transgender, my feelings of the joke was that it was meant to be an insult joke, much like the jokes seen on a roast. He was just cow ting in how Caitlyn has let her self go. More a jab towards personal fitness than anything of a more malicious intent. He also used the proper noun "she" in referring to Caitlyn, not "he", solidifying my perception of the joke as just common Twitter banter. Now before I make people angry, I can also see were this joke can be construed as offensive and transphobic. The joke was directed towards Caitlyn, a recently open transgender. He could have said the joke about any one else, but why her? Personally it all comes down to the persons own concept of what makes transphobia, and what doesn't, and that is why this fiasco is very heated.
Note: I will gladly argue my points with others who bring intellectual thought and plausible facts in a discussion. Not like a "my way is the only way" type of arguing either, but a "my point seem to be correct because of a, b, and c" type arguing.
Sorry for the long post, it's been a while since I could do something like this
