In refreshing my knowledge of the Destiny lore pre TTK, I noticed a potential connection I'd not seen before. It's a bit tenuous, but I've not seen other posts on the topic ...
So common consensus seems to be that Alpha Lupi is / was the traveller, or at least connected.
BUT ...
What if Alpha Lupi was (and is) the last remaining Ahamkara?
We know the Ahamkara speak to guardians (warlocks in particular, but hunters also) by whispering in their ear in a subversive manner, potentially bending them to their will.
We also know the Ahamkara, if they do still exist, are a shade of their former selves. Only interacting indirectly with the universe.
Then there's the dreams of Alpha Lupi grimoires. Which also have some similarities in style, language and content. In particular, the narrative voice is often cajoling, and suggests influencing the subject.
I also read somewhere that the Ahamkara arrived at about the same time as the traveller in our system (but can't find the source grimoires for that), and the Great Hunt slightly preceded the collapse.
Finally, the design on Crest of Alpha Lupi, while hardly talon heavy does have eagles and wolves (obviously, Lupi) which are all taloned, and so could indicate a feral aspect to Alpha Lupi.
So it seems to me just possible that Alpha Lupi is an (the last?) Ahamkara and speaks to the traveller in the same way the nameless Ahamkara speaks to guardians in their grimoires.
Anyway, appreciate there are quite a number of hikes in that theory, but if you re read the grimoires, I thought there was enough to see if anyone else had thought about this before?
Not sure if I can copy a reddit link (not mine) in here that has all the grimoires listed? (First lore post and first post in this group!).

Well the Ahamkara seem to be feathered Serpents in mythology there was a winged serpent on Venus who would exchange secrets for errands and such. Some of the armor pieces would prove this such as void fang vestments. It seems the Ahamkara came from the void possibly coming through when the Traveler came. The Ahamkara are the exact opposite of the Travaler they lead the guardians down the oath of selfishness giving into their ego rather than help the city.
