#Destinyideashop: A place to submit ideas to the devs for improving Destiny

Currently we have the #communitywishlist tag for things we would like to see added to Destiny. I thought it would be cool to also have a place for people to submit ideas on how to make those things happen. To that end, I am creating a new tag #destinyideashop. to have a place to group them together for the devs to see. The community wish list is a great place to list ideas like sparrow races for example. What I envision for #Destinyideashop is a place where someone can take that idea and submit a way to actually implement sparrow races in-game, be it menu set-up, actual course design, race structure (laps, #of participants, rules), etc. Have an idea for a new weapon or armor type? Post your design. Have an idea for a new community space in the Tower or Reef? Post it for us to read or see. Have a suggestion for how LFG could be integrated? Let us know how you'd do it. This should be a sub-forum for Guardians to be able to help build worlds, even if it's just by planting seeds. I am not looking for ideas listed in this thread, though I do appreciate them. I am looking to see your threads tagged #Destinyideashop and look forward to seeing what you all can come up with.

Going to repost this here, as I think it fits since I tried to explain or rationalize each idea: Vital changes: -Get rid of/fix lag issues in multiplayer (never been much of a fan, but it really keeps me away hearing that people intentionally use lag to cheat), perhaps easier said than done. Popular suggestion is having Bungie maintain mp servers but... -Largest possible team for patrol mode: 6 man or greater parties for patrol mode. Would allow for more fun since playing in separate fire teams while in the same chat gets a bit awkward. Sad I can't play with my Raid buddies together in anything but a raid... -Optional matchmaking for EVERYTHING! Who cares if you don't do well, at least people will have the opportunity to try! Make it optional, or perhaps just have it fill in the gaps of an existing party? --Bring Year 1 weapons into Year 2! As you are set to create weapons foundries, I would suggest giving the old weapons that aren't associated with the 3 foundries shown for TTK their own foundry set ups. Some of the exotics will obviously be rogues that won't/shouldn't fit (like Thorn or Bad JuJu) while others already fit in nicely (Suros Regime and Hard Light). Etheric Light is already hard to come by for legendaries, so I would suggest sticking with that system or a similar one fitting into TTK so that people are still pushed to try the new weapons but aren't absolutely forced to give up all of their old favorites forever. Maybe set up the mechanic to only allow upgrades after TTK campaign is finished? By this, I mean that whatever currency/item you need to upgrade Year 1 weapons would only be acquirable after you finish the last campaign strike/mission of TTK. -On that note, stabilize the economy for Etheric Light. This might be "too little, too late" in case you really are throwing all old weapons out the window, but I hope you realize that's a bad idea for a game that has focused so heavily on grinding for random loot drops. If you do keep an upgrade system of some sort going forward (which again, would probably be the smart thing to do), I hope it fits in better than the current etheric light system (which makes upgrading legendaries more difficult than upgrading exotics). -Maybe expand some of the current locations and find a new system for keeping players in the game space that is more immersive (Idea: remove all hard invisible walls and keep a countdown system, but give it some context. Maybe it is the countdown until enemy ships spot you and fly in to investigate? It would be cool to add in some sort of believable reason for why we can't explore beyond certain territories in each playable area. Maybe the guardians can only keep these few areas on each planet accessible, and you can add territory in DLC, claiming that the guardians have secured more territory.) -LOCATION MAPS: the ability to call up some sort of map via ghost menu or something. Especially vital if you add more territories to existing playable spaces. I'd suggest a prompt on ghost HUD that allows separate map to be opened, with new prompts for mission/quest indicators and even enemy presence/concentration overlays (might let people know it is likely that a public event is about to go down). -Remove currency caps (I know the time-based caps are being removed, but the amount cap is still in effect. Is it really necessary?) Recommended changes/additions: -Themed ghost shells/artifacts/other new item types added as loot for existing raids/PoE: I can only imagine how sweet a ghost shell from the vault of glass would look (glass-like, translucent and opalescent, with sharp angular design accents reminiscent of the vault itself), or a creepy Crota's End shell that looks more organic with the skeletal motifs of the hive. I don't know much about the artifact items but they seem like on-paper-only type stat boosts. I've heard of revisions to earlier strikes being added but not raids and nothing hinting at new loot for existing challenges. I think it would be a cool and would keep the content fresh. -Unrestricted exotic usage: let us be truly legendary! With the growing number of exotics, I think we should be able to attain the ability to wear a full suit of the most powerful armor in the game. Maybe only in PvE, maybe only in certain multiplayer modes (like the new mp mode with increased super charging), or another stipulation. Just wish it were possible. -The suggestion of weapon shaders sounds cool and all but wouldn't a separate shader system for that and possibly other items start to crowd the gear interface? I suggest simply applying the armor shader to all gear (all weapons, sparrow, maybe even ships?) -A social space within the Last City, accessed directly or via the Tower. Larger shopping space with focus on aesthetic changes and story elements. This could benefit expansion of factions as a story element as well. Imagine that, as factions gain power and expand influence with humans(and friends) becoming bolder from continued (perceived) success, the vanguard takes precautions by pushing all non-essential personnel and services out of the tower in an attempt to keep guardians from being too influenced by seemingly petty interests. All of the new kiosks would stick around and make more sense since the vanguard is obviously trying to limit civilian influence in guardian affairs. Functionally, the accessible city area would be an effective extension of the old Tower social space, compensating for the (hopeful) growth of the game's story, items, and economy and representative as an evolution of the game overall. Maybe there could be statues erected in honor of the guardians slaying Atheon and Crota, capturing Skolas, recovering shards of the traveler and so on and so forth. New commemorations could mark each expansion to the game. -What if there was a mixed PvE/PvP mode? Such as a situation where location specific enemies could bust in on a PvP map during a match. It would really through a new dynamic into the game. It might not sit well with those more strictly interested in PvP, but maybe it could be a separate match type? Not exactly sure how/if it could be worked out but...maybe? -Sparrow races! They just make sense. They teach guardians how to effectively use their sparrow while also being a sweet way to compete less directly. Would fit well into the Crucible system. I would suggest starting out with a race course on each of the playable worlds. Another possible way is as a time-trial style race on the actual existing map areas under the guise of a mapping scan. As long as you don't get off the speeder and make it to each checkpoint on time, you succeed. Perhaps you could even be rewarded based on how low your time is? (As I casually reference a revision to the basic structure of the current fetch quests. They need to change though. This is just one way to improve.) -Gear perks concerning glimmer: I would recommend attaching passive discount perks for glimmer prices to armor. For weapons you could add perks that passively increase the amount of glimmer earned for taking down certain enemy types. -Tweak Xur. Don't think he should sell weapons so straightforward. Limit his inventory to exotic engrams for each gear slot (or a rotation of fewer) so there is still an element of chance and suspense. He could also stabilize the in game economy concerning Etheric Light, as he has with exotic shards, as they are incredibly rare for something that simply updates old legendaries.
