Hello Bungie,
I have been a committed player over the past year with nearly 9 days of playing time. I was also a longtime player of Halo over the years. One of the things I loved about Halo was the Sticky Grenade, and of course using it to stick people online and kill them, therefore getting the medal.
I couldn’t have been more ecstatic when I saw that the Titan class (who I’ve been since I’ve started playing Destiny), had the choice of a Void Sticky Grenade as an option in the Defender class. Ever since reaching this point the only times I do not use this grenade is when I’m using the Striker class for the bounties that are “Kill X amount of guardians with your special”.
I posted the link to my player’s stats up there, but I will also write them right here for you to see (stats as of 8/31 on bungie.net):
*** PSN: joeyv43 ***
Total Kills: 7156
Total Grenade Kills: 840 —-> July total: 136; August total: 305
Total “GET IT OFF!” Medals: 63
There’s a littleee bit of a disparity in the medal count.
“GET IT OFF!” - Kill an enemy by sticking them with a grenade.
*** General %’s ***
% Grenade of Total Kills: 840/7156 = 11.74%
As you can see, grenades are an important asset of my combat style.
Over 11% of my TOTAL kills are grenade kills. In the beginning of the game obviously I didn’t have access to the Void Sticky grenade right away. I might have had a handful of kills with some of those Arc grenades in the beginning of the game, but they’re negligible in this discussion. I was nowhere near as prolific with those as I am with the Void Sticky’s.
July % Grenade of Total Grenade Kills: 136/840 = 16.19%
July % Grenade of Total Kills: 136/7156 = 1.90%
August % Grenade of Total Grenade Kills: 305/840 = 36.31%
August % Grenade of Total Kills: 305/7156 = 4.26%
(July + August) % Grenade of Total Grenade Kills = 441/840 = 52.5%
Over these past 2 months my Titan has remained the same Defender class and the settings in the class have not changed.
Nearly 53% of my grenade kills have occurred in July and August in time. 441 Grenade Kills in 62 days (About 7.11 Grenade Kills per day). See what I mean by prolific?
Mind you these are all grenade kills, both medal counting sticky kills and plain old grenade kills.
*** According to the “GET IT OFF!” Medal Count ***
% Sticky of Total Kills: 63/7156 = 0.88%
The % of total kills is expectedly low, but less than 1%? There’s no way.
% Sticky of Total Grenade Kills: 63/840 = 7.50%
Even this number isn’t as telling as it might be, but the next part will open some eyes.
July # of Sticky of Grenade Kills = (0.075)*136 = 10.2
August # of Sticky of Grenade Kills = (0.075)*305 = 22.875
(July + August) # of Sticky of Grenade Kills = (0.075)*441 = 33.075
So according to how this medal is being counted, on average I have only ever stuck and killed someone with the Void Sticky Grenade over these past two months about 33 times.
That’s 53% of my TOTAL “GET IT OFF!” medal count.
That’s just a ridiculous notion.
I get the occasional “miss the sticky, but he walks over it kill”, but understand I throw them to hit people. That’s the fun of it.
If you refer back to the section above this I averaged 7.11 Grenade Kills per day in July and August combined.
Even if you don’t want to consider all 7 Grenade Kills as “GET IT OFF!” medals, we can remove 1 to bring it to 6 kills per day (a 14.28% slower rate).
At the 6 “GET IT OFF!” Grenade Kill per day rate I would have surpassed your severely low (July+August) average rate of 33 medals, in 5.5 days.
Come on guys. Just makes no sense. Why doesn’t the medal register all of the time? Doesn’t even register half of the time.
All of the other medals seem to work almost perfectly.
Don’t let the Sticky Grenade fans down.
