Hid OP in spoiler
OKAY so for anyone genuinely concerned about the point I was conveying, It would seem that levels beyond 40 are simply a threat modifier, and provides no actual scaling
Datto is better informed than Bungie (or just cares more about the information people actually want):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHgS0sA39Jk
It would also seem that As long as you are WITHIN 40 light of your target, you will not be scaled AT ALL. You deal damage based on how good your gear is, and receive damage based on how good your gear is. Levels mean jack diddly aside from meeting the requirements.
So In a way I was right! THANK YOU BUNGIE! For level 41 enemies ;)
Never been happier to be wrong :) Just wish Bungie could've said something, as opposed to Datto figuring it out
Thank you bungie. I distinctly remember how happy everyone was the first time you artificially increased the difficulty like this. Glad to see it returning.
Edit: No, our leveling system is NOT changing.
Prior to level 20: a level 17 does 33% less damage to a level 18, and takes 33% more.
After level 20: A level 27 does 33% less damage to a level 28, and takes 33% more.
Bungie has stated nowhere THAT system is changing. They're simply removing light as our leveling factor, and returning it to experience.
Edit2: My point isnt that I'm worried about the game being too hard. My point is I am worried about the game being too easy.
Why doesnt Bungie just make these enemies do 33% more damage and have 33% more hitpoints, so that in December when the next DLC rolls around, I dont just skyrocket to being on par with them, I will only be stronger against them because of my 20 or 30 additional light from my gear (a much smaller bonus, obviously)
Yup, the encounters aren't difficult at all apart from vog. Case and point crota when you're the actual level of the encounter. Will be the same with skolas, it's already easy at level 34. This artificial increase pisses me off. Give us difficult mechanics and actual tactics.

Edited by Dtexas44: 9/2/2015 9:11:07 PMDo you understand how the new light system works? Yes, level 40 is the max experience level, but after that is the light level. In the stream when the community guest died it showed what killed her and that the recommended light level for that enemy being 240 (it goes much higher than this im pretty sure, up to 400 at least is my guess). The higher your light level is the more damage you do and the less damage you take. Bungie has said this a few times already. Its a whole new algorithm for calculating both attack values against an enemy and the damage you take from an enemy. Furthermore, its impossible to say exactly how it will work as it is a whole new system compared to what we know and we wont know until its released.

Lol they are doing it AGAIN.. Everyone told them it was a cheap tactic to artificially increase the difficulty. The reviewers are going to crucify them for this mistake
-
I kinda agree but kinda disagree. It is a cheap way to artificially increase difficulty. It feels like a way to make it harder without having to really add anything or put thought in. On the other hand, I think it does help it feel like your guardian is growing and getting more powerful. When we are able to reach that level the content becomes easier and it feels like growth. The problem is when it makes previous content that was difficult seem trivial. Crota is so much easier now. If he was 10% or 15% easier that would be one thing. But the gap is too large. Crota going from 18 hits to 12 makes the encounter almost easy. If it was 15 or something you would still feel stronger but wouldn't invalidate the difficulty of the fight. So i might not be a terrible idea, but it seems like it was implemented with too strong a curve. On the other hand, raid and other high level bosses always being difficult would be awesome as well. Maybe they will be changing the power scaling with the new way light works to compensate.

They said a while ago that patrol is no longer easy mode.
-
Hates the idea , read it again , read a comment , totally agree . It's the same with Crota hard mode . We can kill him in 2 swords now easily . Maybe though light plays a higher role than level . Watch datto and planet Destinys vids .
-
At least the bosses have more interesting mechanics... They may still require some semblance of team work even after we out level them in later dlc. Maybe.
-
Go ahead, talk shit before you play it. Did you forget this is just a patrol? Seeing how you can't hit something 4 levels above you, it is a justified difficulty increase .
-
Its like you guys forgot that our levelling system is changing..
-
The bosses are Tier 1 in the stream. Tier 1 : 36 Tier 2 : 40-41 Tier 3 : 42-43 Good luck with the Tier 3 bosses.
-
The way dmg is calculated may change, so the enemies might be level 41 for thematic purposes. They're stronger than us, but we will overcome them. All in all though, I really think they should ditch that idea. If there are level 41 enemies, we should be able to get to 41 as well. Still, the enemies died fairly quickly, and they didn't have endgame gear on.
-
Wtf are you talking about? You've completed lvl 35 poe so why are you complaining you pussy?
-
I agree, raising an enemy's lvl by 1 is a cop out for a mechanic, next dlc drops and the shit is too easy once you pass the lvl. They need actual mechanics build into the game.
-
Before you flip your shit. Look at some other info first. This will not be as bad as skolas or crota. Like smith tweeted that the balance depends on light. So get enough light and it won't matter.
