With their fleet decimated the Ukrainians set up a makeshift military complex on the ground and survivors begin to assemble, the gunships facilitate mass transport and they soon gather the majority of personnel who survived.
The first thing constructed were anti aircraft weapons, and a medical tent. The first because the major threat was ships still in orbit and the second to tend to the many wounded.

The soldiers stop him. "Who are you?"

"Nice to meet you guys too. I'm a scientist and a theorist, and willing to help you."

They look at each other, unsure. "How can we be sure? And how were we supposed to know?"

"Oh I don't know," I say, grinning.

They aren't amused. "I don't see what's funny."

"Okay look. You guys are kind of pissing me off. Just let me help the survivors [spoiler]and possibly grab one for a bounty[/spoiler] And then I'll be off."

"You will be watched, but if you want to help go ahead." [spoiler]wouldn't recommend trying to grab my guys.[/spoiler]

Three soldiers escort you, any false move and it's clear you're a dead man. The ethnic paranoia of the Slavs has not expired with time.

"Say, do you know a relative of mine? Vladivostok? I want to check in on him."

The soldiers look at him. "Like we know every single person on the payrolls. And Vladivostok is a port city in Russia."

A freighter arrives and touches down, a single person leaving the freighter*

The soldiers aim their weapons at him, not knowing if he is a friendly or and enemy. The sergeant nearest yells in broken English. "Identify yourself!"

He takes off his helmet* "My name is Galdes Rahl, I came to help."

The keep their weapons trained on him. "How would one man do that?"

"I'll help with whatever you need done."

They look at each other, then back at him. The sergeant translating for his men. They lower their rifles. "Thank you for the offer but we largely have what we need. Unless you can destroy those ships up there."

"I cannot do that without pissing off... whatever they are up there."

"They are already angry, we saw to that. I hope they burn in hell. They will soon if we have a say."
