We have this fight literally every God damn month, and every God damn month Halo Fanboys refuse to admit that a series that has 30+ years of lore/world building could decimate a 12 year old gaming franchise. Halo Fanboys are literally worse than Trekkies (at least Trekkies have the counterargument of also having around 30 years of lore but they still have vastly small amount of material to work with). Star Wars will always win out because the whole point of the universe is designed to be ludicrous and break the limits of reality whereas Halo tries desperately to put itself into somewhat grounded realism.

  • Then you realize that the Halo universe just needs to throw star roads at anything starwars has. And that's just one of many ways Halo would win. If you were going solely by the pre-halo 4 halo games, then you might be right. But the Halo universe has become much more powerful since Halo 3.

  • There's a few counterpoints here. 1. More years of existence does not equal stronger universe. 2. 30 years of lore is technically more like the equivalent of a few years. Less so than Halo, at this point. Not sure if you heard, but the vast majority of SW material is not canon anymore. 3. We do have this thread pop up every month, which means the topic has been done to death. I remember the arguments when the thread was originally posted, and it's been made fairly clear that Halo is just too powerful as a whole. There's a ton of evidence for this in posts from two years ago. I don't think that last bit is even close to the truth. The Precursors are in no way grounded in reality. Both metaphorically and lore-wise, considering they have reality bending abilities as a species.

  •
Not sure if you heard, but the vast majority of SW material is not canon anymore.
Six mainline games versus six (going to be 9) mainline movies? I say it's about equal in content in terms of what the base is, not to mention specifications such as in-universe mechanics are still canon which are still downright overpowered in comparison to Halo.

  • I like both franchises but in its fairly short time compared to Star Wars Halo's lore is pretty deep and the races are stupidly power, plentiful and good at creating doomsday level weapons. I mean hell look at the Forerunners alone. Dreadnoughts capable of destroying planets on their own. The Didact's personal ship (mantles approach) is larger then the Death Star and is one of the smallest in size of dreadnought ships. (These are basically individual Death Stars and they had hundreds/thousands of these) Single attack crafts/war sphinxes these 12 meter tall craft have enough fire Power to vaporise cities and up turn continents causing enough damage to a planet to destroy all Life. (It takes a handful of star destroyers to wipe out a city let alone destroy enough of a planet surface to render it inhospitable) Onyx sentinels now these beggars have only been encountered as the first line of defence to shield world trevayln(I'm so sure I spelt that wrong) but they made up the entirety of the planets innards and number in the Trillions they combine and X each other's Fire power and shields a group of 50 is enough to take out a covenant carrier in one shot. Constraint fields a technology based version of the force basically making every forerunner a damn Jedi. Not enough well they held 3 million plus worlds some where for individual families but by and large the majority of those world held a high population number many having planetary wide shields over them. (Whereas SW going from the visual guides comics etc there's maybe a couple of thousand worlds names listed that hold a decent population or has been listed at all) Production speed these guys sure know how to build compared to the empire which takes roughly 1 year to complete a Death Star. Now compare that to the forerunners ability to strip down an earth size planet to it innermost core in 9 days and create a Halo out of those materials. Ships such as a dreadnought class vessel takes a couple days and single fighters take minutes onyx sentinels take 6 seconds. Also add to all that, that the force doesn't work on extragalactic life (Yuzan Vong) the Jedi and sith become nothing more then excellent saber fighters. Now imagine that ancient humanity and san'shyum where on the same technology level as the forerunners in all areas bar slipspace travel and you now have 3 extremely fast producing technologically advanced races that number in the trillions without even bringing in the Precursors. Each one of these races has Galaxy ending weapons while star wars Also has these level of weapons they are much more scarce then the ones Halo has.

  • The games and the books combined are definitely more than what we have of the SW movies and whatever else is still canon. And considering the Precursors and the Flood, I don't know what mechanics you could possibly mention that would be OP against Halo.

  • Mechanics as in how technology works. Disney stated that everything is not in the same level of canon as the movies, but SW works in different levels of canon, IE if something like a Star Destroyers needs an explanation on how it was built, runs, works, and power credentials, then books/games ARE canon until the main voice behind SW (that being Disney) comes up with their own answer and makes the previous works invalid. As far as Disney's statements go, they haven't said anything about the canon pyramid other than that books, games, and other media are not on the same tier as the movies which was already common knowledge even before Disney bought SW.

  • But that's not what I'm talking about. I want to know what specifically would be OP against Halo. If I recall correctly, there was a post in either this thread or the other ME vs Halo thread that showed how powerful the UNSC ships were in comparison to Reapers (I'm starting to be more certain that it was ME), which ended up being of a magnitude of 10000 times greater in power output than a reaper's weapons. And that's just the UNSC. The Covenant would be generally better. The Forerunners unimaginably more so. The Precursors infinitely more so. I have a hard time believing that the massively powerful and large ships the Forerunners could make at rates greater than that of the Star Forge would have any problems with SW technology. As for the canon part, I found a quote from LucasArts that
When it comes to absolute canon, the real story of Star Wars, you must turn to the films themselves—and only the films.
At the very least it means that any arguments made using non-canon information is substantially weaker than an argument made using canon information.

Spartans are GMO 12 YEAR OLDS armed with PROJECTILE and FRAGMENTATION weapons, SPARTANS can defeat nearly ANYTHING in Halo universe, Spartans are only on par with Dark trooper phase 2/3s or Shadow Guards, SWU has MUCH MUCH MUCH more tougher elite units. Even JUST on that list I mentioned. If a spartan can do it a dark trooper or shadow guard CAN do it BETTER. So yea halo verse can DEFINITELY be beaten and BADLY.

  • Yep. Even as a halo fan I admit Star Wars universe would win, unless the Halo rings were activated or the jedi and sith were stupid enough to let a floodspore get too close.

  • The Jedi and Sith with a Flood Spore part is actually a great visual for me. The Force is not Universal. It is, as far as we know, confined entirely to the inhabitants of the main Galaxy. Because of this, the Flood would be invisible in terms of the Force. This would probably make infection for a Force-User even more likely. This all assumes we are referring to all SW information, including non-canon. There's not really anything to be said otherwise.

No SW clone wars TV show season 4 finally 2 parter; Anakin the chosen one goes to a force sensitive world where the BALANCE of the force through THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE is kept in check. He demonstrates that HE HAS the power to even CONTROL that balance. Aka FORCE is Universal
