Hello and welcome guardians! This is your friendly neighborhood AnonPig, and I'm here to drop some heavy knowledge in your laps! As the title says, our great and mysterious Alpha Lupi didn't choose to come to us on her own, but the Vex chose for her. Let's begin.
[b]Cards that should be read include:
Ghost Fragment Traveler
Ghost Fragment Traveler 2
Legend: The Black Garden
A Stranger's Call

The Vex structures found on Venus have existed for billions of years before our existence. This is simple to come to terms with since they travel through time, but they were also on Earth. This is shown in the hobgoblin card thanks to the information given about what actually is in Vex data milk: radiolarians, these are protozoa found as early as back to the Paleolithic era.
So now we have the understanding that they've set up camp in our galaxy, but why? I'm here to show you it's because they were waiting for the Lupi to arrive, but not only waiting for her to stumble into their laps but setting the trap.
Pujari was a Thanatonaut, a famous type of warlock which would kill themself to view into the void and see what they can learn from it. He threw himself into the Shores of Time on Venus and drowned, he saw the Black Garden, and spoke of it in Legend: Black Garden. The important piece of information is that he saw a ghost bloom from the flower there, and also how it had "gardeners" beings of bronze.
These beings were the Vex, they were born in the Black Garden, as are the ghosts, but they weren't always the way they are now. Their original purpose was to tend to the garden, which is where souls(Light) goes, but it was the arrival of the Black Heart that changed that.
The Black Heart was born from Lupi's self doubt and insecurities from the knowledge that the Darkness pursued her. She became afraid of the simple act of thought. It empowered it, gave it life, and corrupted the Vex within her. When they found it the Sol Progeny was made to attempt an assimilation of sorts. This went both ways though, and the darker insecure feelings of Lupi were thrust into the collective mind of the Vex: alternate the universe to your liking, make it your own. The difference was compassion, where Lupi had it, the Vex were completely without.
This is why they set their trap. Lupi couldn't be allowed to flit around from galaxy to galaxy alternating THEIR universe to her liking. So they pushed her from within, like I said both ways, using the Black Heart to influence her actions convincing her to travel to our galaxy, to stay there and make a stand against the Darkness. Knowing full well she would fail, they thought they had succeeded, but there was one thing they couldn't account for. Rasputin. As I said in my last post Rasputin caused the collapse to push away the Darkness, without him Lupi, and us, would all have died to the Darkness.

Edited by A Rising Wind: 9/3/2015 1:21:58 PMI'm playing catch up on all of anons archive. Good read. One thought on the black heart. I've always thought that the doubt/fear of the traveler could be caused by rasputins attack, not fear of the darkness. The traveler had encountered the darkness many times before, and never had doubt. It appears the traveler simply left the area, like with whirlwind, or the referenced countless civilizations. This time, it was different. Our warmind intervened, and in the process of pushing back the darkness, crippled the traveler with his "knives". Those aurora "knives" of Rasputin, the ones that took more than just flesh? Maybe they are what created the fear. The fear of the traveler because she could no longer escape. That fear was then passed onto the vex, corrupting their network, and in an instant, altering multiple timelines, and the vex purpose. The vex, whom are originally gardeners, who worship the heart are now, for lack of a better term and because it's a common bungie theme, are rampant and suddenly repurposed in a aggressive state (ie: attack mode) as a result. Basically, the traveler has lost control of the vex. And now they are recreating worlds and time as they see fit thru their simulations
