Then they need to find a new job. And this is not the bakery, because there is no gray area here. Their job is to issue marriage licenses in accordance with the law. Not change the law themselves.

It wasn't their job to hand licenses to gays originally. Now you're asking to find a new job... Ignorance at its best
-
Anyone who doesn't hand out licenses to gays isn't doing their job. Why keep someone who isn't doing their job?
-
That wasn't their job when they were hired
-
Jobs change. Nobody has the right to keep their job in spite of them not doing it properly. They should know that their job is to carry out the law without bias even if they personally disagree with a law.

Your arguments are invalid until you turn 18
-
https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/genetic It's true that I'm under 18 but how is that relevant to the argument that I made? Is it not true that a teenager is capable of making a sound argument just as a 40 year old is capable of making a fallacious argument? Why don't you address my argument specifically if it's so easy to knock down?
-
It's pretty bad that you have to hide behind logical falacies that you can't even use correctly. Anyway, you just confirmed that you are a highly opinionated teenager with no grasp on real world issues

Edited by Autolycus: 9/4/2015 8:59:38 PMWhile we're playing the logical fallacy game...
It's pretty bad that you have to hide behind logical falacies that you can't even use correctly.
The genetic fallacy is when you discredit a fallacy solely based on it's origin; who made the argument or where it came from. You completely discredited my argument only based on the fact that I, a teenager, am making it. Pretty much one of the first things you learn in logic are fallacies of relevance. A genetic fallacy is a fallacy of relevance because who made the argument has nothing to do with the contents of it. Refute my argument with logic.
Jobs change. Everytime I see you get into an argument you turn tail and hide behind these. Not my problem that you can't argue
-
Edited by QuasiMixture: 9/4/2015 6:04:55 PMI base my arguments on logic. Do you count that as hiding? Here's my argument, pretend that you don't know whether a teenager made it or wether Socrates or anyone else made it. Refute it solely on the points that it tries to make.
Jobs change. Nobody has the right to keep their job in spite of them not doing it properly. They should know that their job is to carry out the law without bias even if they personally disagree with a law.
I already made my argument a half dozen times. I'm not restating it
-
Edited by Autolycus: 9/4/2015 9:04:14 PMBut you haven't actually made your argument against that once, you've just weaseled around it by targeting the person arguing instead of addressing the statement, usually by calling them a hopeless liberal or some variety. Alternatively you resort to simply saying you already made the argument, which you have not.

I did make my point. She has a right to refuse because it violates everything she stands for. If gays want to get married go elsewhere and stop bitching. We shouldn't have to bend over backwards for every minority
-
Then I'll stay unpersuaded in my liberal bubble believing that people should be fired for not doing their jobs.
-
Typical ignorance
-
No. I believe that this clerk and any other clerk who doesn't do their job properly should be impeached. I stated why I believed and you haven't given a counter point.
-
No, adjusting to change at its best.
-
They were hired to hand licenses to straight couples not queers. It goes against what they were hired to do and against their values. It sounds to me that you're not very accepting
-
She's a bureaucrat, that means check your personal bulshit at the door and do your damn job
-
Yet another liberal to the rescue
-
If you didn't notice, even some of the most prominent members of the GOP have called this woman out on her BS. It isn't a partisan issue.
-
No they were hired to hand out licenses in accordance with the law. Anyone who works in that field knows laws change and often. Its par for the course. And no, I'm not accepting of stupidity. Sorry, just because you have an opinion/belief doesn't mean it's valuable or deserves respect. It must show that on its own.
-
Poor britton. You are so ignorant to people's beliefs that it's pathetic
-
Lol ok sure
