The scientist's tinkering with the alien tech, which he erroneously attributed to the First Civilization, sends waves of alpha and gamma particles into the atmosphere. This strange spike is noticed by an NRO DELTA spy satellite in high orbit, and a investigation team is dispatched to find its source.
