So it's not someone who is licensed to preform Christian marriage? I'm still pretty sure there is a current issue with [u]priests[/u] being in a similar situation... Is this related or totally different?

  • No. They are a government representative that issues a license for a couple to get married within a certain time frame. The couple then has to seek out a person who is sanctioned by the state to perform the marriage. In regards to priests, no church or minister is obligated in the US to perform a marriage ceremony for any couple they don't wish to. A justice of the peace would have to.

  • Basically the only thing this woman does is stamp a paper saying the couple has filled out the required paperwork to get married. She is claiming her religion prevents that. It's total stupidity.
