AND THEY GAVE US THE MIDDLE FINGER!!!
The ODonnell vs Bungie legal battle is over and the truth prevail and is visible for all of Us to see and confirm that BUNGIE NO LONGER CARES FOR QUALITY, BUNGIE NO LONGER CARES FOR THEIR FANS, BUNGIE ONLY CARES OF PROFITS.
Marty stood against Activision decision to transform the musical score of Destiny from a gourmet dinner to a fast food meal.

Based on this information and how obsessed by quality and fans are Marty and Joseph Staten, We can imagine why Joseph also left Bungie and maybe that the Destiny original story theory is not so a theory but a reality. If Activision messed with the music then for sure they messed with the story. Even Marcus Lehto is gone.
Seriously, this is really disappointing, for the first time since Pathways Into Darkness Im disgusted with Bungie.
Marty, You have proven that You really cared for Us. Your place in history will always be bright and inspiring.
What a shame Bungie, really what a shame...
The court filings say that O’Donnell believed he was preserving Bungie’s “creative process, artistic integrity, and reputation, keeping faith with fans, and protecting Bungie and its intellectual property from Activision’s encroachment into artistic decisions.”
this is why we all saw bungie as a company like no other.. marty, joe and others who left during the revisioning of this game know its just a real shame activision taints everything they touch

Yeah... Pretty much what has been said about Bungievision... Nice to have a legit factual source, something like legal court documents proving that the story was changes should shut up the white knights out there. All we want is the game that was promised, I do t think anyone hates Destiny, the community is just disappointed that it's a husk of what it should have been.

Keep calm and stop throwing money at the screen. Cancel your pre-orders.

A company... caring about... PROFITS? That's HORRIBLE! Bungie should give everything away for free!

This reads like the Time Cube. Are you feeling okay, Necromantici?

Edited by YATM: 9/5/2015 11:17:41 PMOh come one, this has nothing to do with our game or our experience. This is a legal battle over a composer that went full retard and a company that tried not to pay him what he is due. That's it. It has nothing to do with us and does nothing to provide any smoking gun. Either play the game or don't. It's that simple. Yes he was a founding member of Bungie and they tried to do him wrong when he went nuts over his music not being used in a promotional trailer. All this teenage angst is so cute.

im hungry.

Marty is old school and I hope only the best for him. It's too bad that Bungie and him couldn't reconcile these things without termination. At least he left us with the beautiful score that is the Destiny soundtrack.

Bungie is a company. You really expect them to not care about profit, it's all about profit. That doesn't mean they don't care for the community and it's playerbase. Man, these topics make me feel stupid for being a human being.

I'm sorry who?

I don't get why people blame activision so much no one actually knows what goes down and in all fairness even cod has a much better story than destiny !!!! . But the truth is if it wasn't for activision you wouldn't have a game at all so stop bitching and get back to putting in endless hours to a game that's so crap it's only worth putting in 100000 hours !!!!!

If Activision puts up all the money to pay for development then they rightfully and contractually have a say in how the thing turns out. It sounds like the composer possibly overreacted because it didn't go exactly the way he wanted. He is a fine artist and I don't hold it against him, but a job is a job. Sometimes you have to suck it up and compromise. Destiny could have been different, certainly would have been different without Activision's involvement, but what we got is amazing nonetheless.

Are you guys serious ? Think of how much good you could have done in the world during the amount of time it took to evaluate this krap. ITS A VIDEO GAME produced by a company that wants to make money from you or someone else.

If you look at the Article, Bungie actually went to bat for Marty, Activision stepped in and denied their claim for the music. Then the situation got worse, what it sounds like to me is Marty was disgruntal (don't get me wrong I think it's obvious why, and he had every right to be) and made the situation worse for himself. Coming from a manager view point, if I had an employee (right or wrong) who was disgruntle, slacked on their work due to being upset over issues, refused to do their job, and went out of their way to show out (states during press conferences would make outburst, interrupting the conferences). I would come to the conclusion as well to send on vacation, have a conversation and see how they perform when they return. It looks like it didn't go well when he got back. Also, the article point out later there was a "mad dash" to make changes to the story due to Activision asking for re-writes, delaying the game in the process. Bungie actually looks like a company who tried their best with their new bosses but lost at every turn. To say Bungie does not care about quality is a smack in the face of the people who poured themselves into making a game, that you obviously play or you wouldn't be here. To say they don't care about the fans is a smack in the face of the people who have made changes due to fan response, who are currently trying to make changes to make the game better and work daily to support the game. Before you call Bungie anything, take the time to seperate the two companies, Bungie is a company who is trying. Activision, is the company putting up road-blocks. Activision is the company that pushed Bungie and their best sound person to "Dark corners", they are in a corporate world now. The shares aspect of the article is the only part I think Bungie -blam!-ed up, they definitely did him wrong in that respect and he should be compensated. The game itself, if anything is to complained about is Activision not letting Bungie create what they intended.
-
Tl;dr Activision tried to assume creative control over the music, which rightfully pissed Marty off. Activision also likely assumed creative control over the story, which led to Joe leaving Bungie. Publishers do not have the right to assume creative control over a studio. Activision=Bad Bungie fired O'Donnell to shut him up after he became disgruntled and stole his shares as a final F-YOU. Bungie=Bad It's clear Activision started it, but Bungie finished it off.
-
Wow...some of you people seriously would not fault bungie if they had someone you knew killed. You act like they can do no wrong.
-
Bungies loss is 343s gain. Remember this isn't the same Bungie. Made up of former trey arch members too (i think). Activision are the real enemies here but Bungie certainly messes up joining then. Shoulda stuck with Microsoft

*reads story like it's in a newspaper* "I saw this coming" **crumples up newspaper and throws it into the trash can**

I got about halfway through that article & realized how boring this is. Next!
