If you look at the Article, Bungie actually went to bat for Marty, Activision stepped in and denied their claim for the music. Then the situation got worse, what it sounds like to me is Marty was disgruntal (don't get me wrong I think it's obvious why, and he had every right to be) and made the situation worse for himself. Coming from a manager view point, if I had an employee (right or wrong) who was disgruntle, slacked on their work due to being upset over issues, refused to do their job, and went out of their way to show out (states during press conferences would make outburst, interrupting the conferences). I would come to the conclusion as well to send on vacation, have a conversation and see how they perform when they return. It looks like it didn't go well when he got back. Also, the article point out later there was a "mad dash" to make changes to the story due to Activision asking for re-writes, delaying the game in the process. Bungie actually looks like a company who tried their best with their new bosses but lost at every turn. To say Bungie does not care about quality is a smack in the face of the people who poured themselves into making a game, that you obviously play or you wouldn't be here. To say they don't care about the fans is a smack in the face of the people who have made changes due to fan response, who are currently trying to make changes to make the game better and work daily to support the game. Before you call Bungie anything, take the time to seperate the two companies, Bungie is a company who is trying. Activision, is the company putting up road-blocks. Activision is the company that pushed Bungie and their best sound person to "Dark corners", they are in a corporate world now. The shares aspect of the article is the only part I think Bungie -blam!-ed up, they definitely did him wrong in that respect and he should be compensated. The game itself, if anything is to complained about is Activision not letting Bungie create what they intended.

  • I think he was smart enough to smell bullshit when he was asked to produce all the music for ten years in one. If he did that then he wouldnt really have a job after release because it would all be done.

  • The article actaually said Marty understood the firing and had no problem with it. The land grab for his Founders Shares IS a different story, and that was more Bungie than Activision. That IS out and out greed.

  • I understand that you don't want someone you fired as a shareholder so it makes sense that they tried to take the shares away. But they should have given him their monetary value when they tried to take them away.

  • In effect they tried to steal it from him. I am glad the courts saw through it and he is being compensated.

  • Could not have said it better myself. So many people are trying to frame Bungie as some corrupt, evil corporation, and it's honestly disgusting. At first, I literally thought that this post was a joke, due to how ridiculous it was, but unfortunately, the only thing that may be ridiculous is the IQ of the OP.

  • Your view on management is all wrong. As a manager, you're a leader, not a dictator. If you act like that you're doing it wrong. Know when an employee is right and admit it, reward them for their work and ideas. And this isn't close to a "manager and subordinate" thing; this is like the sales manager going to the warehouse and telling them what they can and can't do. He was one of the founders, don't forget that. Now saying that, yes you're right, it's activision, but bungie is the one accepting their sell out.

  • You must have never been a manager because as times you have to be a dictator.

  • Heh, if you've ever worked in a warehouse, the sales rep quite often tells the warehouse how to do it. Granted most of the time it's completely ignored, but still, there's this office mentality that thinks they know better than the people in the trenches.

  • Exactly, the warehouse manager comes over and tells them to -blam!- off and go manage the cashiers :P

  • Manage the cashiers? There aren't cashiers in a warehouse. Most of the time how it works is the customer complains about something stupid. (The pallet was cracked, the product wasn't stacked to their liking, they didn't care for the way the pallet was turned in the truck). And the sales rep comes in and raises a shit storm about how the warehouse is -blam!-ing up their account. The warehouse nods and smiles, then ignores the idiot and goes back to work.

  • Don't think literal warehouse, sorry, I mean like a store that has a "warehouse" in it. Like Walmart or Sears. It's big enough to have a ware horse for shipping receiving and stock ect

  • No, no they aren't. Stock rooms don't require managers and staff. Let me go look up what job title was at the local winners...... Oh there it is, warehouse manager. Let's see what my full timers position was.... Oh full time-warehouse.

  • Of course stock rooms require managers and staff if they are large enough. But the fact is, that if your stock room is a part of a retail store, it's not a warehouse.

  • You say that like all managers lead. They could have some high horse guy who thinks his way is the only way that works because it worked before. That is how it is often in corporations. Remember there is a human behind that management position and how often do we -blam!- up.

  • Maybe the story for destiny at the moment is a representation of what is happening right now. The Traveler( Bungie) gave us a golden age of video games but then the darkness(activision) messed everything up.
