Your view on management is all wrong. As a manager, you're a leader, not a dictator. If you act like that you're doing it wrong. Know when an employee is right and admit it, reward them for their work and ideas. And this isn't close to a "manager and subordinate" thing; this is like the sales manager going to the warehouse and telling them what they can and can't do. He was one of the founders, don't forget that. Now saying that, yes you're right, it's activision, but bungie is the one accepting their sell out.

You must have never been a manager because as times you have to be a dictator.
-
Heh, if you've ever worked in a warehouse, the sales rep quite often tells the warehouse how to do it. Granted most of the time it's completely ignored, but still, there's this office mentality that thinks they know better than the people in the trenches.
-
Exactly, the warehouse manager comes over and tells them to -blam!- off and go manage the cashiers :P
-
Manage the cashiers? There aren't cashiers in a warehouse. Most of the time how it works is the customer complains about something stupid. (The pallet was cracked, the product wasn't stacked to their liking, they didn't care for the way the pallet was turned in the truck). And the sales rep comes in and raises a shit storm about how the warehouse is -blam!-ing up their account. The warehouse nods and smiles, then ignores the idiot and goes back to work.
-
The sales manager to go back to managing the cashiers.
-
What cashiers? There are no cashiers in a warehouse.
-
Don't think literal warehouse, sorry, I mean like a store that has a "warehouse" in it. Like Walmart or Sears. It's big enough to have a ware horse for shipping receiving and stock ect
-
Those are called stock rooms.
-
No, no they aren't. Stock rooms don't require managers and staff. Let me go look up what job title was at the local winners...... Oh there it is, warehouse manager. Let's see what my full timers position was.... Oh full time-warehouse.
-
Of course stock rooms require managers and staff if they are large enough. But the fact is, that if your stock room is a part of a retail store, it's not a warehouse.
-
You say that like all managers lead. They could have some high horse guy who thinks his way is the only way that works because it worked before. That is how it is often in corporations. Remember there is a human behind that management position and how often do we -blam!- up.
