Dude he had a -blam!-ing temper tantrum like my 5 year old does because they wanted different music in a trailer, not the whole game mind you but a -blam!-ing preview and he acts like its the end of the world

It's called having principle. He did it because Activision didn't have the creative rights to make that change and because standing up to them was the right thing to do.

How would you feel if you spent hours on end working on something just so it could be thrown away?
-
it couldve been as simple as them wanting to use a well known song by a band in the ad nothing was getting thrown away and to be fair yeah i could see being annoyed or pissed even but not to the point of getting yourself fired over it think about how big of a dick he wouldve had to been to get fired from a place he helped create did you ever think about THAT

Think about it from Marty's perspective though. Here you have a group of guys(Marty, Staten, the rest of Bungie) who are well known for their "Band of Brothers" philosophy. They're doing their thing making Destiny. Then Activision steps in with this relatively small change. This infuriates Marty because he's a legend but also because I'm sure it looks like the beginning of a slippery slope. Marty probably thought that if Activision was ballsy enough to change the Trailer music, how long till Activision starts changing other things? Or assuming total creative control? Ryan stands up for Marty at first but then rolls over which was probably seen as a serious stab in the back. If the CEO of Bungie won't stand up to Activision, who has the power then to do so?
