Crota was beaten by street levelers, Vex can't do that to real time only to their simulations.

And, you go to the Vex's realm when you destroy the heart of darkness.... Also if you would read the Grimoire cards, your know it's backed up by the precursors and descendents as well. In their Simulations, they are omnipotent.
