Unsportsmanlike Behavior in PVP

Hello Guardians, (Make sure to read the edits at the bottom of this post) I am proud to say that I am an avid supporter of the Destiny community. However, there is a line that is crossed CONSTANTLY while playing Trials of Osiris, and any other form of PVP. Every week, I hop onto Destiny with friends and clan mates in order to dominate the playing field in order to gain the Trials gear. With that said, there are many groups of people that can best us, whether our game is off, or they are just overall better at Trials. After winning the match (and during the match), there is many people "teabagging" and showing unsportsmanlike behavior. Not only do people do things non-verbally, there is many times that players have messaged me calling me out for me and my clan's skill level, which I find disrespectful. All in all, I don't expect this to stop. It is sadly a part of the competitive gaming culture. However, I think that Destiny as a gaming community is one of the greatest. PVE is the prime example of this. Random strangers will help you out in tough encounters with enemies, help you complete the raid if you never have, cheer you on for gaining cool loot and much more things that make this game extremely different from any other. I would LOVE to see this more in Destiny PVP. I am not asking for the skilled players to be less competitive, or to purposely lose a round. If you want to go 5 - 0, do it! I encourage you. However, reframe from being rude to fellow players. They are here because the love playing the game, just like you. If this topic has been touched upon before, I apologize for not looking into it. I wanted to voice my own opinion and I hope that you can respect this. If you agree with this, please comment your thoughts. I would like to see this on the trending forum post so that Bungie can see this. EDIT: After reading many messages, let me make a few things clear. I am not raging, nor am I a sore loser. What I am saying is there is a lot of rude people who play the game and that goes with ANY multiplayer game. That's how it is! And I am not a fan of teabagging because it is degrading and shows that the players think they are the shit. However I could care less. The thing that pisses me off the most is when people message me afterwards with rude messages. Now just because I dislike these things, doesn't mean I can't handle it. I love Destiny and it's community, and what I am trying to say, is that we are better than that. To all of you people who have commented stories of helping others to the lighthouse, congratulating people on their performance, thank you. You are the guardians that deserve the rewards. You guys have fought, won, and continue to win afterwards because of your awesome leader skills. Final Edit: Thank you for all the feedback. Once again, this isn't about having my feelings hurt, or that people are bullies and need to stop (which bullying is a serious issue), its more about how you act. Most of you are taking the Teabagging part of this post to literally. Overall I am saying is don't be a dick. However, I did recognize that it is impossible to eliminate that behavior. I have been told many stories of cyberbullying that has occurred through Destiny, and I think that shouldn't be okay to do. I am the voice for the people that are scared to be judged or bullied on online forums or in game for voicing their opinions.

  • T-bagging is Bungie Culture. Be honored you are playing a game where it all began.

Lol, so we have the White Knights for the female gamers sensitivity training , and now we have the Blue Knight for PVP sensitivity what a joke. If you get a mouth full of balls just bite down, make the bastard a eunic, and carry on your with your game. Oh, and I also forgot we also have the "mercy" rule for those that can't stick it out and make an attempt to rally. Are we going to have our Ghosts replaced with a Care Bear next? We could just Care Bear stare each other down I suppose, it seems to be the current forum trend lately...

          • I do it in trials because of the reactions I get out of people. While it's all on good fun and I don't care if I get t bagged back. There are countless people who will rage and either pop self rez while getting bagged or will rage quit, that's the best feeling ever.

            • Sportsmanship died when trophies were given out for participating. People don't know how to deal with losing. Sad really.

              •
unsportsmanlike behavior
They have no real confidence in their ability at the end of the day, so they have to showboat when they have the opportunity to make up for their lack of confidence the rest of the time. People who claim it is a tactic to enrage their opponents, are likewise not confident enough to face an opponent who is at their best.

I personally rarely teabag, but it gives me a chuckle when I get bagged myself. I don't consider it unsportsmanlike conduct in the slightest. Edit- I never knew so many people got so bent out of shape over someone squatting over them after a kill. I guess I'm just used to it after years of playing fps....

The good, the bad and the ugly - ALL in the space of a fortnight! The Good - Me and 4 of my clanmates were in an Iron Bandana match a few weeks ago and had a random with us. He was only lvl 30 and finished with a really impressive K/D and had the second highest number of kills on our team. We won by a mile and he played a part. Because of his level and the obvious handicap that gave him, we sent him messages telling him how well he had done. Nothing creepy, just stuff like 'good game mate' and 'well done!' etc. He was rightly happy with himself and seemed to appreciate the praise. He congratulated us back on the win and stuff. The Bad - During a match in the same I.B event, we were losing. I heard my teammates complaining about a player zooming all over the place like The Flash and lagging out like a nutter. I came across him when he ran around the corner and straight into one of my rockets. He ran straight through it and disappeared. He turned up behind me so I shot again. Straight through him again. He walked up to me all calm and shotgunned my grill off. Raging, I made a rash decision to message him. I accused him of cheating. Bad move and something I'd never usually do. He invited me to a party and I accepted. He told me he didn't know he was lagging and apologised. He sounded genuine and I felt horrible. The Ugly - Shortly afterwards, I had a shocking game and we lost badly. I think we all did poorly that game. A random on our team messaged me, telling me never to play I.B again because I'm the worst player. I was already a bit disheartened at my performance, but to have someone call me for it? I responded but he'd blocked me. I looked at his stats to see just how good he was himself, but he is actually a lot worse than I am and had no right calling my skills. My friend messaged him and told him he was out of order, but the guy said I lost them the match and he wouldn't apologise to me. I thought of any children playing who may have received messages like that and how they might feel and just couldn't understand why anyone would lash out like that. So yeh
