I agree that any solution which doesn't address the root cause of migration (civil wars in Syria and Iraq) will only extend the problem. However, I think the refugee issue is being conflated with the larger issue of immigration and integration of immigrants. The two are separate. Refugees are a short-term, humanitarian issue, and in raw numbers (thousands, even tens of thousands) actually make up a tiny percentage of global migration. Immigration is a social and economic issue dealing with long term trends and tens of millions of people. You cannot base your immigration policy on accepting or turning away refugees. Different policies are required.
