Who else thinks Nolan sounds terrible?!!
Dinklage was sooooo much better! People moaning that Dinklage underplayed it, but it was subtlety he was playing, as he is an ai ROBOT after all.
I know Nolan makes more sense as its his business and he's more readily available but now it sounds so cheep and over done. He sounds like he's permanently questioning himself. Ha
Peter Dinklage was awesome! If it ain't broke don't fix it!
But all the fussy childish players out there who thought "well it could be better", nagged away endlessly at Bungie, and Dinklage (which pissed me off) until we all get stuck with this shit "performance" (if that's what you wanna call it).
And now all the people who were amongst the bitchy little whine a lots that caused this mess, have realised that they should've been happy with a good thing and not chased after the mythical "perfect".
At least give us a setting to switch between the two voices for year 1 content so we have a choice!!!

EDIT - Wow THANKS for all the support guys!!! This post is blowing up! I had no idea that (near) EVERYONE else felt as strongly about this as me.
Thank you to all Guardians, keep the replies coming and maybe Bungie will add the voice toggle switch so we can have our little Dinklebot back for year one content.

2 RepliesA public event initiated when I tried it out. 'Fallen, about to drop on us,' was said the same way you order a Big Mac. It was flat. I think the issue is definitely with Bungie now. Seems they can't direct dialogue for shit.

Objectively I think the poor writing and bad story did more to cast the ghost in a bad light than dinklage's performance ever could. However having started a new character I think Nolan did a better job with what he had but that's experience. That said someone somewhere directed dinklage and approved his voice work and then put it into the game

They should just make an computer generate the voice or have siri from the iPhone since the ghost is a robot. Then you wouldn't have to hire anyone to mess up the voice

1 ReplyI think the new ghost lacks character and the delivery is generic. Dinklage had some bad lines for sure, but he had some great ones too. I would like to feel that ghost is a sidekick and we work as a team, but north makes him feel like an accessory.

I don't think this new one is bad, but I think Nolan might have chose the wrong tone for the ghost. He should have gone with a voice more similar to his Desmond Miles, so the transition from Dinklebot would be smoother. I do like the new ghost a bit, but I didn't have any problems with the Dinklebot at all. I will admit though, the new ghost does sort of make me think of an old kid's cartoon whenever a guardian dies out in the wild.

3 RepliesHad to go consult YouTube comparison since I havent been able to pulling myself away from mgs5 and disgaea 5 demo enough to check out Destiny update at length. I'm not speaking purely on the OP's response when I state that comments I read on the voice acting prior to my YouTube consultation legitimately had me under the impression that the new ghost sounded like "Bitch Stewie" from the episode of family guy where stewie cloned himself. You're free to prefer whichever performance you like (I personally found Dinklage's performance monotonous while I found North's only slightly less underwhelming), but the overreactions are damn pathetic. I personally would like to see various more diverse optuonal voice settings implemented for the ghost. In addition to dinklage and north, Morgan Freeman (or sound alike) has been a popular suggestion I'd like to see along with at least one hilarious rapper, a female (sarah Silverman would be hilarious, for those of you who've seen the opening scene of Way of the Gun, viewable on YouTube btw), and a bumble-esque setting where the ghost doesn't say anything -- he just plays songs or other audio he finds appropriate to the moment (you encounter an enemy and he gets an ! Over his head and sounds off something similar to that iconic mgs detection noise lol). That said, that would all be cool, but the ghost and his/her voice doesn't have much of an effect on my Destiny experience as is, and the current voice is not too different from the original. In all honesty, the amount of pettiness around the change is pathetic, and everyone needs to calm down, he reasonable, and stop reaching so hard to find something to complain about when I have no doubt patch 2.0 didn't resolve every fault with the game to the point that there aren't at least a few far more significant things that need fixing to focus on.

Much as I hate microtransactions, I think I'd pay 1.99 for a better voice if they had a few options (even my stupid voice would be better than this guy's)...like the way CoD Ghosts did, where u could pay a couple bucks and pick between R Lee Ermey or Snoop. Hey, maybe that's been their plan all along! Put this crappy default voice in and then roll out an option for way better voices for money after you realize you can't stand Nolan. Diabolical!!! But what's done is done, so I vote for let's get Jack Nicholson to read for ghost, or Sammy L!

He's done so many other voices overs that were great. Imagine Drake from Uncharted with any other voice but his. How about the guy that does the voice of Optimus Prime?

I landed on the moon in patrol last night. Nolan bot exlaimed "sometimes don't you wish we hadnt woken the hive?, I dunno tho weve had so much fun with them!" Im sittin on my couch shakin my head like wtf did i just hear. I his fruity voice ta boot. Its stuff like this that will kill the game for me surely but slowly.
