Please explain light level in quantifiable terms

What difference does the new light level make in terms of numbers? They even mentioned in the stream explaining how, in the old system, going from level 29 to 30 was around a 30% boost to your overall damage output and defense. But I've seen nothing that translates that as clearly with the new system. Does going from light level 90 to 100 equal a 10% boost to DPS and/or defense? Does player level now ONLY factor into what gear you can equip? Or does overall level still translate to att/def numbers? As an example: Played Crota raid normal last night and it said "recommended light level 160" which kind of implies player level matters less than gear level. But why? Maybe I'm missing where this was explained elsewhere but it wasn't very clear on articles I've seen to date. Any info or links detailing the new system would be nice. Thank you! ^__^

  • So I know you want numbers but I don't know that sorry. But yes level is just for equipping items and light determines damage output and damage taken, but generally the higher level needed to equip items leads to higher light levels. So they are separate now but still positively correlate with each other. At least that is how it appears to me.
