Titans are the best overall PVE class, Hunter and Warlock have some handy noob crutches but generally they aren't as useful.

Crota is one situation where the Hunter is very useful however it can be done with the other two, as for going down I generally don't as Titans take a lot more punishment. I said overall, meaning that Titans are a consistently excellent choice for PVE.

Self res is a crutch. Voidwalker is a pretty good PvE subclass though. And radiant skin is great for aggressive users of radiance

Very true, I have seen maybe one Warlock play this way. The rest are scrubs who die constantly and have their insurance button ready.

On destiny tracker, it tells you how many people play what subclass and class 12% are voidwalkers. 20% are sunsingers.

Noob crutches? Do you mean like a big, purple bubble that protects you from everything outside of it?

Yeah along with the rest of the team, and gives them buffs, and can be made to blind enemies. Besides goi9ng invisible to keep yourself alive and self rez as insurance against epic failure Hunter and Warlock generally don't help besides a few situations. Titan can also take more damage in general as well as being a good support to the team, the Titan is the best OVERALL PVE class when you consider all of the abilities.
