Let me clear up the grimoire=dead ghosts claim.
Ghost account for about 5 grimoire each. Some Ghosts count for 10 or 15 though.
There are 77 dead ghosts.
77x5=385. Let's just round that up to approximately 550. Fair enough?
Only 550 score out of a possible 3620 (xb) or 3665 (ps) can be given to you by finding dead ghosts. While that is a substantial gain, it is not the key factor for a high grimoire.
You say Grimoire doesn't show skill? Let me brake it down.
Where did the other 3,000 points come from? It shows you have played a variety of PvE and PvP content, and that you have done them multiple times. It shows commitment to the game. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up for debate.
Now, grimoire means, for the most part, experience. You do not need a high grimoire score to be good. You can have a natural talent at the game.
But:
talent+experience=skill
When talent is refined with experience, that makes a player skilled.
Being able to analyze the situation and go where you are needed without anyone having to tell you to.
That is why grimoire, to me, means skill.
Usually anyway. I will play with anyone, it doesn't matter to me. But, I will prefer people who have a higher score. I feel I can trust them to know what is going on.

I agree with what you've said, but I also don't think that people without 3300+ grimoire should be judged for not wanting to take a shitload of time to go back through and find every ghost and make sure to kill every unique boss( such as the HoW ones) just so people think they're pro. I'm decent at this game because I can learn and understand tactics and boss fights and am fairly decent at consistently shooting with precision in PVE, so when someone doesn't add me cuz my grimoire is only in the 2800s it's super annoying. Running around for hours just to find dead ghosts and being meticulously obsessive about the grimoire is just the system Bungie wants to further develop their fanaticism and addicted hardcore audience, which is fine, but I still don't think other people should be looked down upon because they don't want to spend the time looking up every location and thing just to get max grimoire.

Thanks for being intelligent.
-
90% of it is just grinding kills. How does that take significant skill?
-
What does Borderlands 2 have to do with this
-
I actually found myself liking a post or comment made by Rain? What has the world come to?
-
I've only found 11 ghosts from memory, so if I found the other 66 that would put my grim somewhere around 3100-3200. Hmmm to spend my time searching for ghosts or not is the question??

Edited by zI INFINITY Iz: 9/14/2015 7:17:51 AMGrimoire is an indication The best example everybody probably knows is time played in a game. When you see somebody that has played Halo, Assassin's Creed, or any other game for 10 hours you get an indication this person might not be that good yet. It's normal that somebody that has 50 hours in these games probably knows more about it, and ultimately has had more time mastering the game. In Destiny these values can be multiplied by 10 easily. So 10h becomes 100h (beginner-novice) and 50h becomes 500h (experienced). This is because of the RPG nature of it, and more hours means stronger weapons and armor. Now grimoire ties into your time played. A lot (though not all, see spoiler!) grimoire comes with more time played. Seeing somebody with a high grimoire usually means they have a high amount of time played, which means they have had more time mastering the game.
I have a great example on my friend list: completely insane number of hours (1200-1500h), but not such a very high grimoire. Some grimoire doens't come naturally if you don't hunt for it.
In the end, it's an indication. There are people that might have played a massive amount of time, but might still be poor. There are people that might have played a small amount of time but are great. There are many exceptions, therefor it's just an indication. TLDR: usually, grimoire indicates the amount of time a player has put into mastering the game. That doesn't mean that people with talent can't be better, since they might exceed the total skill level with less time needed/less experience.

I've collected 83 Ghosts!

Who truly cares about grimoire. It is just a grindy achievement list

I couldn't have said it better my self!
There are 77 dead ghosts. 77x5=385. Let's just round that up to approximately 550. Fair enough?
NO!. Why would you do this? If there are 77 dead ghosts at 5 Grimoire points each that equals 385. No need to "round it up" because it's a WHOLE number. You just invented 33 new pretend ghosts in order to weaken your own argument. Not fair enough.

Wuh... wait. I was going to make fun of you for your grammar, spelling and punctuation errors-of which there are many, and some quite egregious- but for some reason, your simple logic and truth call to me. I agree on all counts. But... Screw you and your logic!!! No one under 4,000 grimoire is a decent player!!! Blah blah blah obligatory destiny forum negativity blah blah blah!!!

Grimoire+thinking Grimoire somehow equals skill= stupidity

I didn't read this because it looked boring
Let me brake it down.
Brake it down?!?? If you're going to be strutting around like a badass and calling people idiots, you might want to consider not sounding like an idiot yourself.... Check out my awesome Grim score.
