Let me clear up the grimoire=dead ghosts claim.
Ghost account for about 5 grimoire each. Some Ghosts count for 10 or 15 though.
There are 77 dead ghosts.
77x5=385. Let's just round that up to approximately 550. Fair enough?
Only 550 score out of a possible 3620 (xb) or 3665 (ps) can be given to you by finding dead ghosts. While that is a substantial gain, it is not the key factor for a high grimoire.
You say Grimoire doesn't show skill? Let me brake it down.
Where did the other 3,000 points come from? It shows you have played a variety of PvE and PvP content, and that you have done them multiple times. It shows commitment to the game. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up for debate.
Now, grimoire means, for the most part, experience. You do not need a high grimoire score to be good. You can have a natural talent at the game.
But:
talent+experience=skill
When talent is refined with experience, that makes a player skilled.
Being able to analyze the situation and go where you are needed without anyone having to tell you to.
That is why grimoire, to me, means skill.
Usually anyway. I will play with anyone, it doesn't matter to me. But, I will prefer people who have a higher score. I feel I can trust them to know what is going on.

Alright. Now add up every grimoire point you get for casually completing the story in about 5 hours. Seriously, some of you people will cry about anything at all.

Edited by Mar: 9/13/2015 6:35:48 PMnormally i'd agree with you, but there is one thing that keeps coming to mind with the whole "grimoire score = skill" thing grimoire score, like you said, shows approximately your total experience with and in the game. HOWEVER after playing MMOs as long as i did (destiny is not a MMO, but the concept applies to anything that can be done with competitive or cooperative multiplayer games), i have learned one very important thing: just because you've played the game a long time, have done most if not all activities, and have played all classes, subclass, specializations, etc. that does not in any way mean you are good at the game. i can't count the amount of times i have seen people who put more time into games than i ever could, have done more in it than i can / want, and still suck so bad they might as well be a noob. grimoire score at this point to me is only used to gauge if someone has a vague idea of what will be going on, not if he will be able to actually do it well. i have seen it too many times to think that experience with a game ever equals out to total skill.

Ive never heard anyone say its just ghosts...
-
The thing is that people with 3000 are the ones that say grimoire counts more, when they have 2500 regular skill + the ghost. I don't think it matters, it just means I play more, some people just don't have the time, a good buddy of mine is way better than me at this game and his grimoire score is a lot less? Like -1000 what I have.
-
BS. I only had to find 12 Ghost to get the entirety of my Grimoire score, you're a liar.
-
I'm still trying to get my sidearms leveled up ;-;
-
What if you are aware of ghosts and that they increase your score but you don't care to use the internet to go get all of them?
-
You should add the point that 100 Rumble wins is no easy task. Plus 100 wins of every other pvp mode.
-
I'm someone with a decent grimoire, but yeah it's not representative of skill, just time. Ghosts, story and grinding are all of the points and none of it requires skill.
brake it down
I aint no idoit just ax me a untelijunt kwestion.

Edited by Snake Rain: 9/13/2015 5:59:30 PMLol this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You get grimoire for youtubing all the ghost locations, and farming AI, and leveling characters, and buying map packs and completing activities. 95% of grimoire score is a product of time played. It's not based on merit, it's based on playtime.
-
You get 5 for each new pvp map
-
Check my grimoire. I bought the game the week it came out. Argument=invalid.
-
If your good at any 1rst person shooter your gonna be good at destiny
-
No talent+talent=skill

That's why some people can pick up a game right away and dominate with it, whereas others need hundreds of hours to learn where to go in order to be effective. For most, experience merely makes up for the lack of talent. Hence your grimoire is nothing more than an indication of how much of your life you've dedicated to this game.

But I have more grimoire then both those numbers you posted above ;) Fix it please.
-
Grimoire is also killing hundreds of Ogres and Colossi and finishing 250 public events and 250 more VIP kills and farming enemies on Mars even though there's no endgame activities on the planet and killing thousands and thousands of things per class. That's the difference between having a score like mine and having max grimoire. Well, that and the Rumble wins.
-
people still play this game?
-
Is 3180 descent Score???
-
Ya getting 100 wins in rumble, salvage and skirmish is not easy. Its mostly hard cause of randoms who just cant stand on their own two feet in pvp. Its annoying to see "on the bright side" pop up in skirmish, i need wins not a silver lining hahaha
-
Why is gathering ghost equivalent to not having a live/job to some people. I think gathering ghosts is relaxing. I love jumping around and platforming.
-
i like my 3735 score haha

Seeing a lot of people down below saying when they came against bad grimoire players in trials it was an easy win. My team had around 3000 before trials, all day one, never bothered with the ghosts. We smashed teams with high grimoire. Just saying...
