To the idiots who say grimoire is only ghosts...
Let me clear up the grimoire=dead ghosts claim.
Ghost account for about 5 grimoire each. Some Ghosts count for 10 or 15 though.
There are 77 dead ghosts.
77x5=385. Let's just round that up to approximately 550. Fair enough?
Only 550 score out of a possible 3620 (xb) or 3665 (ps) can be given to you by finding dead ghosts. While that is a substantial gain, it is not the key factor for a high grimoire.
You say Grimoire doesn't show skill? Let me brake it down.
Where did the other 3,000 points come from? It shows you have played a variety of PvE and PvP content, and that you have done them [u]multiple[/u] times. It shows commitment to the game. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up for debate.
Now, grimoire means, for the most part, [u]experience[/u]. You do not need a high grimoire score to be good. You can have a natural talent at the game.
But:
talent+experience=skill
When talent is refined with experience, that makes a player skilled.
[i][b]Being able to analyze the situation and go where you are needed without anyone having to tell you to. [/b][/i]
That is why grimoire, to me, means skill.
[b]Usually[/b] anyway. I will play with anyone, it doesn't matter to me. But, I will prefer people who have a higher score. I feel I can trust them to know what is going on.

Grimoire to me means experience. You can play a lot to have a high grimoire score and still suck just like you can have a low grimoire score and be good.

In the Crucible I typically check the loadouts of high/modest grimoires to see if they have anything along the lines of meta/unique but useful. I can typically start at a cautious/aggressive pace each game depending on what I find from doing this.In Raids I tend to assign/assist players if I don't know them based off of grimoire for the most part but I'll [b]verify that they understand[/b] what to do afterwards. I don't typically do anything with people in PvE anyways unless it's the occasional or nightfall anymore.

2 RepliesI feel like i have done [b]a lot[/b] i have beat every arena, beat both raids on both difficulties, gone flawless, gotten to lvl 34 (easy) and have all the exotic weapons I want so far. All this and i don't even have 3000 grimoire

I've had the game since March or may I believe and I'm only around 2800 cuz I don't grind grimmoire. The only planet I went ghost hunting on was earth

Bought the game first day and never understood why my grimoire was so low, wasn't until I realized that I needed to do more than strikes with my trusty AR that I started to increase it

Spot on. You can't really have over 3000 grimoire without a fair bit of experience. While that experience doesn't guarantee you're going to be good, there's a better chance the guy with >3000 will be more reliable than the guy with around 2000.

Disagree, because I would consider myself a filthy casual. I have a 3015 without starting my hunter yet, which I plan to do tomorrow. I only for the most part play two days a week with a few night sessions here and there. I only find ghosts when I stumble across them and don't think I really have that many found, but I could be wrong. The "elite" seem always to consider anything below 3400 scrubby, so yes the 550 or so that are attributed are something that adds up. Just my opinion, nothing else.

Only recently have I gotten over the 3000 mark. And only because I've started collecting ghosts since these last two weeks have left me with few meaningful choices in gameplay. I don't PvP much, so I'm not a candidate for the PvP grimoire, and am loathe to play patrol on Mars, so I still have cabal enemies to kill for grimoire. You want a raid partner? I'll show the ropes and all the tips and tricks. Don't much care about my grimoire score...

You need to update your math to account for new Total G-scores and new ghosts.

i dont have the dlcs so i have low grimoire, but i know how to do everything in VoG and thats all that matters to me

The only occasions I check someone's grimoire is if run into someone very low level while on patrol, just to see if they might be new. I like to see new players entering the game. Another time is if I get matchmade with someone in a strike weekly or POE and they seem to be making bad decisions. If they have a low grimoire then I know that they might not have the XP and I'll need to step it up. Not because they need carried, but because as a team we need to fill that void. Example. Earlier today I was farming 28 POE. 2 games in a row, different players, one of the other guys seemed completely lost, like he didnt know what to expect or what the objectives were. Both of these players kept being killed and did not anticipate targets or mines. They both had low grimoire. 34s with barely over 2000. Both were also even for a 28 poe seemingly under equiped or just simply made bad choice in gear and or weapons.
