normally i'd agree with you, but there is one thing that keeps coming to mind with the whole "grimoire score = skill" thing grimoire score, like you said, shows approximately your total experience with and in the game. HOWEVER after playing MMOs as long as i did (destiny is not a MMO, but the concept applies to anything that can be done with competitive or cooperative multiplayer games), i have learned one very important thing: just because you've played the game a long time, have done most if not all activities, and have played all classes, subclass, specializations, etc. that does not in any way mean you are good at the game. i can't count the amount of times i have seen people who put more time into games than i ever could, have done more in it than i can / want, and still suck so bad they might as well be a noob. grimoire score at this point to me is only used to gauge if someone has a vague idea of what will be going on, not if he will be able to actually do it well. i have seen it too many times to think that experience with a game ever equals out to total skill.

  • Your comments seem recklessly judgmental. Some days I am that guy who plays like a noob but most days I am not. Part of the process of being good comes from refinement and consistency. People like me are basically working on consistency, please reconsider criticizing all of us at once.

im not saying everyone who is good is good all the time (can usually tell if someone is having a off day, even if people are messing up at something you can for the most part tell if they have the knowledge of how it works anyway), all i said was i do not believe time played = skill. i give people the benefit of the doubt, but just because you've played the game forever does not mean i am instantly going to assume your really good. i've had too many instances where people who put WAY more time into something than i have, have played 100x worse than people who barely play the game. that was my point, i've seen noobs play better than vets in some games so time played =/= skill in my eyes. the only thing i use grimoire score or time played stats for is if they have a high one, i will assume they will have a general idea of what will be going on in the activity (but will usually still ask if they do or not just for clarity's sake), and not that they will be able to do a amazing job at it. yes people will improve with time, and yes some people have natural talent and just need practice, but skill is something that you can be short on even if you've played for quite a while. im not criticizing anyone, im doing the opposite, im withholding judgement of someone until they themselves show me if they are good or not. and if not i will usually help people if they are confused on something or don't know mechanics of a encounter or don't understand something as long as they are willing to listen and learn and not just being a prick, i don't kick people from groups for being noobs, i usually kick people for being elitist morons who think they are better than everyone else because of ____ reason, and usually are worse than everyone else around them. skill is a thing most people either have naturally or gain with practice but i don't assume anyone has it without proof, and give people the chance to learn if they want or need to. sorry for the text wall of a response but i couldn't think of a shorter way to get my point across (not angry for the record just trying to clarify my statement.)
