Truth: Activision is a publisher, that's it. I know everyone likes to blame the big evil conglomerate Activision, but the truth is Bungie has full creative control over the game and the decisions you either love or hate come directly from them. Activision sets a deadline for them to meet, that's it.
Also, that $500 million is the projected budget of Destiny over a 10 year period, not the budget of one game.

Edited by Hyperion: 9/13/2015 11:23:58 PMThat's not why Marty O'Donnell or Joe Staten left... Activision is restricting the developers creative freedom and imposing impossible deadlines for developers to meet in hopes of a bigger share of the profit though dismantling a game and selling it as DLCs. It's all Bungie's hard work, and Activision just markets, replicates, and distributes their work. Anyone can do that. Activision doesn't deserve anywhere near what they sell themselves out to be. They're toxic, just like EA, Konami, and any other publisher that dare follow the same business model. Throughout history, it has always been the talentless scoundrels that take advantage of the talented laborers. This situation is no different.
