I'm no expert but wouldn't a good Hunter kill his target with a clean shot, not let the animal suffer for that long?

Well I do hunt with a bow. Also most hunters would prefer to drop an animal on sight but it doesn't always happen that way, especially with a bow. Also most hunters hunt with overkill weapons because they can't shoot well enough to rely on a clean heart/lung shot

Also overkill weapons may drop animal where you shoot it however it can cause so much internal impact it can destroy other parts of the deer and spoil the meat rendering the deer useless. Hunting with a bow is the cleanest way to preserve the most of the deer no matter how long it takes him to go out. Also have seen countless perfect lung shots in my day where the deer ran more than a mile away.

Edited by The Argent King: 9/14/2015 2:02:36 PMTypically you go for lung shots because it has the largest hit zone, it's not common to attempt a heart or headshot. You then track your target's blood trail. EDIT: But there are still ethics involve and common laws among hunters. I have enormous respect for the animals I hunt, and always try to use every part of the animal to its fullest. People who kill without respect or conscience are no hunter.

I have no issues with hunting, but how does one show respect for the animals one hunts?

By respecting the laws surround by the animals season and taking it humanely as possible.

I can dig that.
