How did forerunners power their...well, everything? I thought I read something in primordium or silentium about a device drawing power from the potential of other universes or something equally weird and scientific that I don't remember, but I can find no mention of it anywhere else.

They had a few different methods. They had standard power stations (we have yet to see any), giant reactors that encompass entire moons capable of wirelessly transmitting the power across the stars (Meltdown), as well as these pronged rakes sticking off of Forerunner installations that absorb vacuum energy, the energy of possible alternate realities; cosmic predation.
