There is a problem with your logic here tho. Eventho everyone got the 2.0 update here, Bungie overlooked some glaring problems it caused (eventho it´s a fantastic and most welcome update with good changes):
1. There is no longer level 20 legendary gear available on Vanguard and Crucible vendors. Light levels are gone and have different meaning now. So gear is actual level restricted as of now! Problem? You can now only get level 40 legendary gear from these vendors!
You can only get level 40 by buying TTK expansion.
So people are now depended on the RNG gods.
2. Weekly Heroic was the only steady source to get guaranteed Strange Coins. Now only available by buying TTK expansion.
So people without TTK are now depended on the RNG gods.
So eventho no content has been taken away! What is the point now in playing Crucible for people without TTK? They can´t buy any gear from the Crucible and Faction vendors, as it´s all level 40!
What is the point in doing patrols, missions and bounties for people without TTK? They can´t buy any gear from the Vanguard vendors!
So all in all, Other than leveling up a new character and getting to level 34, there isn´t much to do anymore for people without TTK.
I personally think this is a huge oversight by Bungie and I personally think this is a typical sleazy tactic (ActiVision?) in forcing people to buy the TTK expansion!
PS. I pre-ordered and own TTK! So I am posting from an honest outside perspective!

Why do you have to buy new things all the time anyway? I thought everyone was mad that their gear was being outclassed! And that's only if you have the new content anyway so you should be happy with what you already have if you didn't buy the expansion!

1) The only way you could hit the level cap in the previous expansions was to buy the new content so this is nothing new. Also you never paid for the right to hit 40. That new level cap is tied to the new content. Content that you have not paid for yet. WoW, Diablo, SWTOR etc etc all work this way as well. 2) The Weekly Heroic is a [i]feature[/i] not content. Its a feature that revolves around the latest endgame content. That includes the new level cap. 3) The vanguard are of course going to sell the latest gear. Just like they always have. Once again them updating their inventory is nothing new.

1) With nightfalls and IB granting etheric light, this is not true. It might have been more range dependent or took longer to reach the cap, but with HoW anyone could reach max level.

Yes but the level of the nightfall was still tied to the latest level requirements. Just like it is now.

Why would someone who didn't got ttk want to level up though? It's not like they can play end game activities so really there's no point in keep playing if you didn't got ttk.

get your point but this is something all MMO do. i played Guild wars for years and if you didnt buy the expansion then you couldnt keep up

I also played both gw. The problem I am seeing is that destiny comes out with dlc every quarter of a year. If this continues and dlc is now $40 dollars, then we are going to be paying a lot of money just to keep up and play this game.

Your point is completely stupid as in all MMOs after the expansions you could still do all the things you could previously do if you didn't buy it. That is not so in destiny, they have had a massive amount of content taken from them.

What " Content " they have? They've been locked out an activity that is not content, The strike that would take place in that activity is content & they still have access to them strikes, If they took the strikes away then yes less content, But they didn't you spazzy, There's no helping you.

Genius (that is sarcastic just so we are clear as I don't think you have the brainpower to pick up on that) First, activities are content, and any activity that they are locked out of now that they weren't before is content that has been taken from them. This is very simple, very basic, and anyone not understanding this should probably be castrated prior to passing on the stupid gene. They have no Nightfall, no Weekly, no Vendors, many Crucible varieties are gone. Do I need to go on. All of this is stuff they they paid for. When they bought the game it was listed, here is what you are buying, and now much of that stuff has been taken.

Strange coin drop rate is up on all activities. I got 15 playing crucible the other day. Heroics are now for farming lm.
