Oh for -blam!- sake go read the terms and conditions that you AGREED to when you started playing the game.
It even states they have the right to add or remove any feature or content. So no they did not break any law because you AGREED to those terms and conditions in order to play the game.
Your content is still there. Its just no longer supported by the various features in the game.
