If they supported moving the game forward they already bought TTK or will buy it eventually making this a non issue. Besides, where would the line be drawn? Should a new playlist be made for year 1, 2, 3, etc.? Should playlists be made for people who never bought any DLC? Personally, I would rather see Bungie focus on making new content, not curating old content.

  •
Bungie focus on making new content, not curating old content.
Did you like all those missions that used vanilla areas? Or the subclass missions that used PvP maps?
Should a new playlist be made for year 1
Yes, there should be a playlist for year one.
2, 3, etc.?
After the next 2 DLC's, Destiny 2 will be released. It won't be necessary to have year 2 and 3 playlists because this games lifespan is not that long.

  • Reusing assets isn't what I ment by curating old content. Maintaining old playlists that would offer irrelevant rewards is what I ment. The playlists were getting clunky and pointless. I think the overhaul was well overdue. Losing access to Iron Banner an ToO is another non issue because without current level and current gear one would have a very hard time trying to compete. Since you bring up Destiny 2, how long do you think Destiny 1 will be supported after Destiny 2's release? Should Destiny 1 be supported for the full 10 years even though it's not bringing money in anymore? At some point the bandaid has to be pulled off. Whether it happens at TTK or Destiny 4 it's still going to suck for the people left behind but it has to happen eventually.

Meh, I'd agree if there weren't tons of other companies supporting their games and not charging for every stupid little thing. You are talking in absolutes where there are so many games that do exactly that and disprove what you are saying. Hell, 2.3.0 Diablo. How old is Diablo 3? They aren't charging for DLC and support the game to this day. Hell, 2.3.0 just changed the entire way the game plays and they gave it for free AND they are partnered with Activison.

  • How is Bungie charging for every stupid little thing? Didn't Blizzard charge $40 for the expansion to Diabo 3? With the exception of the collectors edition items, which are mainly cosmetic, Bungie has only charged for content expaning DLC. I still don't get what the big deal is. Everyone knew that Destiny was an online only game and was subject to change at any time. If someone doesn't like the game and/or doesn't like the way Bungie is managing it they should let their wallets talk and refrain from buying future content (or wait until it's bundled for cheap). My only beef with TTK is that it feels like what Destiny was supposed to be in the first place.

Have they given you any dlc for free, no. No they haven't. So they charge for everything they offered. Diablo charged for one expansion. And it had more then Everything destiny has offered. Everything else has been free. I don't really care if your agree with it. No offense.

  • No offense taken. I can't help but think that Bungie would have been better off just charging a subscription fee rather than going the DLC route.

  • Transparency is crucial. They knew what was going to happen. They should have said what you gain, what you lose in detail. If they would have done that, it wouldn't be so bad. They are just dishonest about their own product.

  • I thought Bungie was pretty clear about what was going away, but that information came from the weekly updates. I could see how someone reading a product description might feel mislead (or outright lied to).

  • It wasn't very clear to me but i'll agree to disagree on that one. The Weekly update is a terrible way to relay info, I could only imagine that only a small of % knew what was actually going on. This forum isn't frequented by the majority. They sure didn't have it in the fine print in any physical outlet, box, or online banner ads.
