is the ttk a seprate game all together or a dlc? if i trade in destiny,will i still have destiny,how,tdb,and the ttk?

The Taken King is a DLC for Destiny without one Destiny you cannot play the Taken King.

if i buy the ttk digital online, how do i buy the extra $20 extra for the 3 exotic class items and emotes and stuff? also are the exotics the same for everyone? thanks
