So I've paid for Netflix for an entire year! I've invested so much time into Orange is the New Black and House of Cards, I even grinded every episode of Friends last month! Now, I log in today and all of it is gone! I can't even watch movies that I have been able to watch for a full year!
I don't get it. I've been a loyal customer for a year, and just because I stopped paying, I get locked out of content. Well I wont be giving them my business anymore, scammers.
Do you get it now?
EDIT 1: I seem to be getting a lot of similar replies, usually directed at claiming Destiny is not a "subscription" service and that we the players "own" the game. I'm sorry boys and girls, we do not own anything. We paid for a liscence to access Destiny's content; content which is subject to change or even be removed for those who don't update their liscence. This was all outlined in the EULA you blindly accepted a year ago.
EDIT 2: "LIMITED USE LICENSE: Bungie grants you the non-exclusive, personal, non-transferable, limited right and license to install and use one copy of this Program solely for your non-commercial use. All rights not specifically granted are reserved by Bungie. The Program is licensed, not sold, for your use. Your license confers no title or ownership in this Program, and should not be construed as a sale of any rights in this Program."
EDIT 3: Jesus this is still going, this is fantastic. It looks like the verdict is roughly about 50/50 on people agreeing with me, or calling me some derivative of the word retard. To each their own I guess. I'd hope you guys get this worked up when Norton Antivirus tries to charge you for updates, and then removes features when you don't pay. Because, you know, you bought a disk, so you're clearly entitled.

Maybe they will under stand now

Thanks for the laugh !

Uh, that's so far from comparing apples to oranges that I think you've actually at reached "comparing apples to bacon" level. Netflix is a service with a recurring monthly fee. Destiny is not. If destiny were a subscription based MMO, then you might actually be able to stretch it and compare them. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

Well played..
-
If you have sky (satellite TV in the UK) and their pvr, you can't watch anything you have recorded if you don't keep paying, even though they are physically recorded on the box you own. In the world of videogames any online title can have the servers turned off at any time. Even online only games. Conclusion: stop complaining about Netflix and play more destiny, play it quickly!

You're the hero the forums need
-
Man they butchered the game for people who didn't buy TTK. Destiny was never advertised to be a subscription based game, and no other console release (to my knowledge) has done this to gamers who opted to avoid DLCs. I've purchased every DLC but that doesn't make it right now they treat those who didn't buy it.
-
Lol you are my forum hero for at least a week.
-
So many little crybabies here telling you that you're wrong when you're not.

Edited by Fenrir: 9/17/2015 5:53:57 PMWhy would saying "But Destiny isn't subscription-based" suddenly make it so, despite all evidence to the contrary? Obviously, you paid for a basic year-long subscription, you paid for smaller packages of more content, and now you're paying to keep playing for another year. Sure, you could still play old story missions and nonsense from Year 1, and that is where the analogy to Netflix breaks, but who would do that anyway?
-
These fanboys really do promote the poor image the Destiny community gets for being dumb sheep. If you want to defend Bungie, please don't make another post
-
I know what you mean. I bought all these TV shows from Amazon Prime and they up-dated their UI and added in new series and then I got an email that said I can't watch the shows I purchased unless I buy the new series!
Do you get it now?
You spent $60 last year to play destiny, its been a year now, grow up and forget about it.
-
Nope? Don't get it You paid for a year, you get a year. You buy a game, not rent a game. If you were only renting Destiny for the 1st year they may have wanted to specify. How would you feel if you paid for Netflix for a year but couldn't watch your favorite shows without paying extra?
-
You paid for a year, you get a year. Thats it.
-
It's people like you that are ruining the gaming industry. Blindly accepting that this is the way to play games, you're not transforming the gaming industry for the better, you're making it so companies will make this the new standard. Selling you an incomplete game, then charging you later for "new" content, then locking people out of items because they now can't level up to 40. Horrible business model, and people that can control themselves and see this for what it is, a money grab from the gaming community, know when to say no. Stand up for yourself and don't buy into this trend.
-
Lol a very apt analogy, nicely done.
-
Netflix is sub based
-
But destiny isn't subscription based...
-
Subscription vs payed extensions

I think these people who are mad about ttk. Should either buy it and keep playing or shut up and find something else to do. Wasting your time on these forums bitching and crying isn't helping anything.
