Except it is. You dont own the game. You own a liscence to play the game, a game which will change and alter content without updated liscences.
Read the EULA. Games are becoming this.

Games should NOT become this. Subscriptions killed elder scrolls online and if bungie isn't careful destiny is next.

Elder scrolls killed itself, games need to improve. Some one took time to improve that game. That some one doesn't work for free. Therefore we pay for the new improved part of the games because that's how hourly wages work...... You pay for work. Just like you pay Netflix monthly, even the base subscription price is raised to help pay for their endeavors into whatever they feel like making.
