If the servers are shut down this very moment. Can you still play the disk?
That is why argument comparisons such as halo, gears and the like is pretty much stupid because if the servers drop you can still play locally from disk or use LAN.

Yeah you have to start your Xbox with it connected and then start destiny then pull the wire it can be done
