But are they allowed to take away content you already payed for?

You make a good simple point and there are various consumer protection laws that state you cannot disadvantage a customer by devaluing their purchase, regardless of agreements or contracts. Just dont expect the white knights to understand it.
-
Yes actually, bungie can actually take away things from you that payed for destiny technically. But in this case, they really didn't take away anything from you. They made it so you can't level up anymore, which makes TOO and IB near impossible. But they didn't take away anything. You payed for ACCESS to this content you speak of. You did not pay for the content itself. You payed for access to their servers.
-
You are incorrect, regardless of agreements and or contracts a vendor cannot devalue a customers purchase after the fact, they can increase its value, they cant decrease it. Can you imagine the ripoffs that would occur if they could.
-
Bungie isn't devaluing anything... We are talking about the content in destiny, which is t being devalued. And yes, price drops for things after they are released does happen. It has happened for years now.
-
So they're taking away the access I payed for
-
They aren't. You still can get onto HoW? Right? How about TDB? What about vanilla? All these things are still accessible. You payed for a license giving you permission to do these things, and you can still do them.

That is restricting content.. Which something I talked about earlier, is all in bungie's control. Just because you can't do the nightfall doesn't mean that your license is taken away.
-
You do not own the content, your money paid for a license to play the game as Bungie sees fit, they can add, change, or outright remove anything they want to for any person at any time for any reason. They retain the sole rights over everything within the Destiny universe.

Because of the type of game that destiny is, yes.
