Destiny and other persistent games blur the line between games as a [i]product [/i]and games as a [i]service[/i]. I think making moral judgements based on a rather unique offering in the market is unfair. The [i]product [/i]players purchased is the missions, strikes, and raids, while the [i]services [/i]they purchased are curated playlists such as weekly strikes and Nightfalls. Those players have access to all of their product while the services are no longer supported.
