Explanation
The boss has 2 main enemies that you will need to deal with and defeat, and has a suggested light level of 300+. Kagoor, the boss itself who will remain Immune for most of the fight until you kill the other sub-boss; and the Servite Ogre, the large Ogre in the middle with an incredibly large health pool (who really feels like the main boss himself). Outside of this there are a few other enemies in the area: Ogres that will spawn periodically, Devoured Shadow (summmoned dark Thralls) that will also spawn, and the most important add.. the Maleficent Eyes; a much stronger version of the "Acolyte's Eye" mob that will chain damage at you. The reason the Maleficent Eyes are important is that killing them will give you a 3x stacking buff named "Ogre's Fury" that will increase your damage to Ogres, allowing you to deal with the large Servite Ogre and other Ogres during the fight quickly. They also kill you really really quickly.
The Strategy
The strategy in a nut shell is keeping 3x of the buff up and killing the large Servite Ogre, and then burning Kagoor as fast as you can while the Servite Ogre is dead.
From a 2man perspective, you both want to position seperately behind each of the two large rocks when you enter the Court of Oryx. When the fight starts the bosses will spawn along with 6 of the Maleficent Eyes (one on each side of the top section, 4x in the middle). Both you and your partner need to kill 3x of these each to get the Ogre's Fury buff at it's max potential, and then continue to hit the Servite Ogre with primary or secondary weapons, saving your Super/Heavy for later.
Progress through the fight by damaging the Servite Ogre while you have 3x of the Ogre's Fury buff, killing the Maleficent Eyes as they spawn and to maintain 3x of the Ogre's Fury buff. During the fight there will also be Ogres that spawn, you or your partner need to deal with these quickly (easily done with 3x buff) otherwise the fight can become overwhelming, and killing the Taken Thralls as they come too. Continue like this until you defeat the Servite Ogre.. and then the fun starts.
As soon as you drop the Servite Ogre, 3x Ogres will spawn in the middle of the room and Kagoor will become active to take damage. Kagoor has a small health pool, so what you want to do is quickly rush up to the top platform where the boss is, pop your high damage supers and blow absolutely everything you have on it as quick as you can (ignoring the Ogres in the middle and trying to avoid damage as you can). Use your Super, Heavy, or even high damage close-range Secondaries, and destroy Kagoor. With two people, she drops fairly quickly before the Ogres can finish you off, ending the fight and reaping the rewards!
Rewards
- 2-3 Blue Engrams (random chance I'd assume)
- Calcified Fragment XLIX
- Completing the Court of Oryx Quest Chain. Gives you a 300 Defense Artifact (Solar/Void/Arc precision damage has a chance to generate an Orb perk)
- Trophy/Achievement for completing the Quest Chain
For this fight I was a Light Level 288 Sunbreaker Titan, WNxDelirium was a 291 Stormcaller Warlock.
How to Obtain Antiquated Rune
To get the Antiquated Rune you can obtain it after completing the quest chain/bounty in the Court of Oryx (randomly obtained after completing Court of Oryx summon kills). Then you must charge up the Antiquated Rune by defeating 3x Tier 2 summons with the Stolen Rune. Once you summon with the Antiquated Rune you will be faced with the Kagoor boss fight, and defeating it will give you the calcified fragment.
