The old players arent denied anything. They still have acess to EVERYTHING they paid for. The nightfalls and weeklies are endgame content, and must be upgrade to actually be endgame content for the DLC. Old players still have access to all the strikes, missions, and crucible maps they paid for. Nothing is locked except stuff that has to upgraded to become a challenge for the new higher levels.

But Nightfalls have been a part of Vanilla Destiny. Now, as the game evolves, so must its content. However, if Bungie had said a a year ago "You will need to invest £80 a year to keep playing ALL content new and old, even though we will continously do what we can to remove as much of the old as we can (such as weapons and armour no longer available" would you have questioned what type of game Destiny is? Couldn't they have kept a Nightfall mode in that only show if you don't own The Taken King?
