You have paid for dlc in the past how is this different? They have done the same thing with other games for easily over a decade, and when did you sign a contract to buy this game. I understand it sucks you can't afford the game and you are jealous and hurt, but they put in time and hard work so you gotta pay. You can't just walk into Ford and be like "last year I bought an f-150 and now you improved on it so give me a new one for free."

I'm not asking for a free handout. I'm angry that I can't play the modes and features I paid for with the base game and two expansions.

It sucks that you can't do certain things but what would be the point, you aren't working towards anything useful anymore given the new content completely changed the game.

Most people I know, before TTK dropped, had nothing to work towards in the game for a couple months, myself included. That didn't stop people from playing.

Well I stopped for like 2 months. Sucks, but it is worth the price trust me.

Realistically in order to keep everything from the past destiny game ttk should have been a new game release because there is no way the old systems could support vanilla and ttk at the same time. In the name of progess of this game they kinda had to get rid of old options. Sorry for you man, to bad you could refuse the update and play on a separate server or something. And as for the community go to reddit this forum is full of trolls.
