Realistically in order to keep everything from the past destiny game ttk should have been a new game release because there is no way the old systems could support vanilla and ttk at the same time. In the name of progess of this game they kinda had to get rid of old options. Sorry for you man, to bad you could refuse the update and play on a separate server or something.
