[b] Lance smiles as he sees blue energy flowing up her arms.[/b] [i] Serena sees an 8 year old Lance, escaping a burning building, as the flames lick against his back, he screams in pain. He screams for his mom and dad, who are in the building. And he screams to the heavens that he will kill whoever did this.[/i] [b] Lance nudges Serena, breaking her concentration, a big smile on his face.[/b] "First try, that's really good. What'd you see?"

"A very. Very. Very. Intense. Movie scene."

"Well, that movie is from my past. What'd you see?"

"A burning building"

[b] Lance bites his bottom lip.[/b] ...What else?"

"The rest is a bit fuzzy.."

[b] Lance looks like he doesn't believe you, but lets it go.[/b] "Alright. How about we teach you some offense?"

"Okay. But is it supposed to be fuzzy on the first time around?"

"No. It's never supposed to be fuzzy. And I don't really believe you if we're being honest here. If you don't feel comfortable telling me what you saw, then that's ok."

"It's not that, it's as if, I don't know, I'm some how... Drained? I think the word is? Like I can move around and fight and stuff but I still feel a bit drained."

"It's your energy. Tempests have a limit. When you use your abilities to often, to hardly, it drains you. To regain your strength, you wait. Simply wait, and your energy returns. Whatever you do, know your limits. Don't exceed them."

"What happens if you overdo it?"

"Imagine nothingness. Where nothing exists, just blackness. No relevancy of time, space, anything. Completely blank. Now imagine being lost in that for the rest of eternity. That's what'll happen."

She shuddered. "That's scary. Anyway, offense?"

"Yeah. It is. So offense. We've got one offense, mainly because our abilities complement out raw skill as fighters. It's called the quantum fissure. The idea is to bend time and space in an area, and when it returns to normal, it releases an outward explosion. Like this." [b] Lance takes a training dummy and sets it in the middle of the room and steps back. He puts out a hand, and the air near the mannequin bends and twists out of shape, and flashes back to normal, blowing every thing back in a show of outward force. The mannequin flies across the room.[/b] "You might not kill anybody with it, but it's definitely useful."

"It looks like it hurts though. A lot."

"There's no explosive force, per say. It's just a concentrated force of air. A really, concentrated force."

"Ah. So just a focused burst of air, knocking back everything caught in the radius of the blast."

[b] Lance smiles.[/b] "Bingo. Now you get to try. Just imagine shaping the air to your will. Bending it, toying with it. If you can manage that, the blast will come natural. [b] He returns the mannequin to its original place.[/b] "But if you start getting nauseous, lightheaded, etc. you stop. Got it?"

[b] Lance grins and claps a hand on your shoulder.[/b] "nice job. I couldn't move a rock the first time I tried that."

"Really?"

"What, you didn't think I was always this good did you?" [b] Lance gives Serena a sarcastic grin.[/b]

"To be honest, I kind of did."

"Haha. Thank you. But no, I wasn't. It takes a lot of practice. And I honed my skills by myself. I learned about everything from my dad, but when he was gone, it was just me. Lucky for you, you aren't alone. You've got someone like me, watching your back. Someone who won't put a knife in your back." [b] He basically spits the last word out.[/b]
