Video:To all those saying "Shut up shotgun nub. You can't make dis post unless you use the OP weapon U make argument against. U can't snipez , cuz you barely even use dem."
Snipers have may be the most skilled, but do they really have a high learning curve in Destiny, if not, a learning curve at all? Let's see why I believe they need nerfing:
-The ridiculous impact snipers can one shot revived enemies, completely ruining the point of over shields on revives
-Very High Target Acquisition makes head shots extremely easy to get
-Little to No Recoil allows for follow up shots to be extremely easy with little to no effort
-No Sway, allowing players to be completely agile and spam fire while maintaining targets
-No velocity limitations (Why would bungie add Hakkë weapons with velocity buffs, yet there are no limitations/mechanics to make this relevant? This applies to all weapons)
-High rates of fire (Similar to scout rifles)
-Head shot hit boxes are big, allowing for ridiculous one shot kills that shouldn't happen (Neck, shoulder, ect)
-Semi high ROF snipers with all listed above.... Really, Bungie?
-Conspiracy Theory-D
-Can outgun regular CQC weapons because of all listed above
-I recommend Nerfing the salty community as well. Nerf cries are running rampant on things that don't even need it. (In short, don't always listen to the bitching unless you actually looked into it.)
Other than that, they're completely fine and only skilled players can use them, right? (Obvious sarcasm) No, but seriously, something needs to be done about this. Anyone else agree? I'd love the community's feedback.
Open opinions and actual feedback in Destiny? Lel. Not from this shitty community.
(Ocean wave of salt water incoming).

Note: from common complaints. There are only a handful of Snipers capable of 1 shotting off of the revive, Bungie just made the mistake of giving one to everybody right out of the gate. In any case, so what? A headshot should be a kill regardless. If you can't count on a Sniper to consistently score kills on a headshot, then why bother using one in the first place?
-Very High Target Acquisition
Aim Assist is the word you were looking for. This generally varies between archetypes, and in many cases is more trouble than beneficial. But I can understand what you're saying. Unfortunately given the laggy state of Bungie's servers, without any kind of assistance, it's unlikely that anyone would be able to hit anything at all.
-Little to No Recoil
Again, this varies, and there are many perks that improve Stability in order to control Recoil. Also, guardians are kind of like Super-Soldiers. We're infused with magical light that allows us to perform incredible feats of athleticism and magic. Our armor is intertwined with our own neurons and purpose-built for maximum combat effectiveness. Enjoy the fantasy.
-No Sway
Refer to the above point. It should also be noted that during the Golden Age and beyond, it's likely that Weapon manufacturers were able to develop lightweight weapon frames, recoil-compensating barrels, gyroscopic stabilizers, and number of other advancements in weapon handling.
-No bullet drop, or velocity limitations
Outside of Earth, those variables would change drastically. On the moon, for example, Gravity is a fraction of what it is on earth, and there's little to no atmosphere to speak of. Referring back to the previous point, it wouldn't be too far fetched to think Manufacturers could have also developed scopes that automatically adjust based on inputs by lasers and sensors that detect environmental factors such as gravity, atmosphere, windspeed, and the Coriolis effect.
-High rates of fire (Similar to scout rifles)
Actual .50 Cal Rate of Fire Skip to 1:30 for the Demo. Also, check out the way the barrel compensates for recoil and the final grouping of his shots. Now multiply that by hundreds of years of technological advancement.
-Head shot hit boxes are big
About the size of the player's head, from my experience. lol
-The Number of Semi high ROF snipers added make NLB and make any bolt action snipers completely useless and irrelevant
NLB is the only bolt-action Sniper in the game, and it's kind of been irrelevant since its inception. It fills a niche for a very specific type of player, but don't try to compare it to Special weapons.
-Felwinter's Lie
The most offensive sniper of all. I'll be damned if this thing ever makes a comeback. ;]
-Can outgun regular CQC weapons because of all listed above
Sure, they CAN. But it's highly unlikely. If you're being actively shot at (Which by the way, in your video, you weren't) the odds of you being able to land a headshot while flinching from the rounds hitting you is very low, and the high zoom of the scope makes sighting in your target difficult in close-ranges.

"Short reason" Short is the key word here More like "I'm saying short but actually long reason@
-
Because you took the scope off of it and it became this "shotgun" thing?
-
OP snipers? I hardly play Crucible at all but in the past 20 games I played I didnt see one "sniper". i DID see a bunch of titans running around with shotguns like a bunch of elitist smack talking pricks with no tactics or skill. Snipers, not so much. Destiny cant even do Crucible right (and its supposedly their self confessed bread and butter) so players habe to find the OP weapon and class of the week and exploit it because this entire game is broken. Crucible may have required skill and one point but now its reduced to arena run and gun
-
Do you know how aim assist works? And yes there is plenty of recoil when someone is lighting you up while you shoot. Why don't you try to snipe me while I shoot you consistently with my primary lol. You would not hit me unless your a godly sniper. I will admit sniping in destiny is easier than almost any game but I don't think a nerd to the snipers are necessary. Maybe simply lowering hit box for head shots cause sometimes the head shots are retarded af.
-
Here's a short reason why I can't snipe good enough to beat them The end
-
OK I will agree with the snipers aim assist being excessive but at one cost. The massive laser that spews out of the scope has to go. The number of times I scout rifle killed or got killed by a scout rifle while sniping is outrageous. Once you get ready to scope everyone everywhere and both see you and send a hail of lead you're direction. While there are a few tricks for saving yourself the humility of being Rudolf the red nosed sniper the reason a sniper should die is someone spotted them out and picked them off, not I shot the shiny light and it was a person.
-
They are both situationally useful and both require a different skill set to use. There a one sentence wonder....
-
Agreed. I've read te arguments on here, and it's bs. Aim assist is real, there is no sway, huge hit boxes, and the ability to rapid fire makes it totally forgiving. If you choose to use a sniper, let it require some skill. I've beaten plenty of sniper teams in trials on my way to the lighthouse. Almost every team we played was sniping, and there are ways around it, but it's no different then thorn was, or shotguns before the nerf, or suros, ext. Bungie made it noob friendly, so when a decent crucible player uses it, it becomes op. I'd be happy if they put a little bit of sway on it so ppl couldn't just aim head high at every door and wait for ppl to come out. And lower the aim assist some.
-
They aren't op. And the revive shield is something I hate more than anything. If you get your revive at the right time when a team is rushing you, it can all turn around in your favor because you get a free shield.

Arrr Ya ready, scrubs? Aye, Aye, Bungie!!! I can't heeeeeeaaar yoooouuuu!!! AYE, AYE, BUNGIE!!! Oooooohhhhhh.... Who lives in the raid area under the reef? Sponge-Boss Nerf-Pants! Annoying and glitchy and laggy is he? Sponge-Boss Nerf-Pants! If useless materials are something you wish... Sponge-Boss Nerf-Pants! Then join mid-raid, and whine like a b*tch! Sponge-Boss Nerf-Pants! Sponge-Boss Nerf-Pants, Sponge-Boss Nerf-Pants, SpongeBooosssssss NerfPaaaaaaaaants! .........And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what biologists call a "scrub". They are most commonly known for their ability to cry loudly. They are often found on the forums, trolling to get their favorite food, simply known as "attention". They thoroughly enjoy crying for nerfs, and then crying about the consequences of the nerf after the fact. This one seems unusually stupid, however. Unusually stupid scrubs commonly attack anything that disagrees with them verbally, but physically left alone. Regardless, please keep your hands, feet, arms and legs inside the tour bus at all time. Continuing onward, I believe I see the common "hater" just a short distance ahead...... ............................................................................ I am just tired of all those nerf cries ... Snipers have not changed since year one. Shadow of Veils had more Aim Assist then 1000KYS... People are just crying because the last trials map was a sniper friendly map and they probably went in with their shotguns (not saying that OP did) and did not get any kills across the court like they did before TTK. If nerfs continue like this, one day you won t be able to play any weapon class consistently anymore and all your gun fights will be RNG :( Those simply are the Destiny mechanics. They made the game this way. If you do not like it, you can play battlefield, COD or Halo if on xbox. Destiny IMO is a really user- and beginnerfriendly shooter. And Aim Assisst is not Auto Aim ... It merely increases the stickiness of the radicule on your target. Only thing it makes easier IMO is swipe-scoping which most people can not do anyways. And about the hit boxes: they are inconsistent. I have gotten many headshots that should habe been bodyshots (like on the neck) and I have gotten bodyshots where I was like 99% on the head. The lag is strong in this game my friend! Do not underestimate its power!

Here's how to counter a sniper. Shoot back. That's literally all you have to do. The flinching is so terrible now the only way you're getting killed while doing damage to them is they're getting lucky. All that target acquisition, low stability, and overall reliability goes away when they're getting shot at. Put damage on them.
-
Longest recorded sniper kill 2567 yards using a 7.62 round it has been estimated that the aim point was about 6ft above the target, so I don't think bullet drop hardly matters however target acquisition does.
-
But if you're an exo you wouldn't have scope sway because you're a robot You also could control recoil and melee harder than humans But screw logic
-
It's actually just the usual lag switches and aimbot stuff
-
So, how about you wear a suit of armor and I take a 50 cal. Sniper and shoot you in the head let's see if you live. (In response to high damage sniper rifles being able to revive-kill)
-
Shotguns take the least amount of skill to use.
-
Want to go to Black Ops 2 or Ghosts? They're so OP that quick scoping is like the biggest crutch ever.
