Any new handhelds coming out?

I'm thinking of getting a ps vita but there hasn't been any handheld releases recently. Do any of you guys know if Sony will release a new handheld console or has the handheld market died?

  • Nintendo shows that the handheld market is still alive.

  • Sony stated that they will be not be making a PS Vita 2 or equivalent, they believe that the mobile phone market has killed the handheld market for them. However, I highly recommend buying a Vita. I picked up an orange 2000 Slim when I went to Japan last month, haven't been able to put it down since. Only cost $200 NZD after conversion too.

  • The 3DS is great, but there's rumors of a new Nintendo handheld being announced in 2016, so maybe wait for that. Then wait a year for them to release a slightly different but way better version of it.

    • I really want a Vita too. The mine craft on it is the same as other consoles but in a handheld. I have Minecraft for iPhone but touch controls suck and it's further behind than console (last I checked). Also, there's Borderlands 2 for Vita and I'm pretty sure there's a $200 Vita bundle that comes with it on amazon.

        • My source at PSVita HQ says that the best they can do right now is dancing games. More on this later.

          • No the hand held market has not died. Look at nintendo. Keeping that alive all over the world. Second to no one. As for sony and the vita. Well. I don't think they are making a new one. They seem content with the vita. And now that people have been buying vitas a bit more around the world. It would not surprise me if it started to get a little more support. As for now though. No new one announced. Or even hinted at.

            • Mobile market has all but died with the rise in cellphones. Especially with Sony (their products never really took off too much to begin with). Nintendo has that market cornered. 3ds is their baby right now. Players don't expect the most amazing hardware and graphics from portable games so their current hardware will probably be around for several more years until they decide to beef it up.

              • Pretty much dead in the west. Sony still supports the vita, but i think even they know its a lost cause here. Meanwhile in japan, gameboy and vita are soring. Just different markets man. Different culture
