There is a knock on the Ryoku's door.
Stephenson had used his old buddy's credentials once again, which got him a fast pass on a hydrofoil to Oceanbay, not to mention some tips from the locals.

You see Apex grab the pole and a 13 year old boy behind him. He grabs the pole and a blast emits and Apex is gone. The boy then teleports away, with the Psycho Unit closing in, but appear to be too late.[/b] "Merrick...or Apex, is gone" he says. "He never killed anyone for the record detective, and he was my friend".

His eyes are bleary and unfocused, and he mumbles deliriously. [i]Evelyn? Ev? Is that... you? Ev?![/i] He seems to be grasping at something only he can see.
