Listen before you hate on me because I watch anime listen to my story. My parents are Korean and in a full blood Korean as well. They grew up reading Manga because Japan is so close by. So they shared what they grew up with me. And that was Manga. Since TV has made animated Manga a thing (anime) I decided to start watching some of it. I don't watch all anime just Naruto or Dragon Ball Z. It's all about your culture and where you come from. You don't need to hate on the people that grew up with this stuff. Although I have to agree with you the American anime community can be really cringeworthy and disgraceful. Not all of them, but a lot of vocal "fans"
