I've beaten the raid fully roughly 5 times, doing a 6th tonight, and In my experience bringing in new people can either cause a brief delay of a couple wipes or hours wasted and the person is just as bad as they were when they started. My advice to people that haven't done it but want to do it: A.) watch multiple YouTube videos and UNDERSTAND the fights, you should be able to recite the mechanics because there isn't that many. Those that do this often do the best when joining a group of experienced players B.) make it known of lfg that you are inexperienced but are familiar with the fights. C.) if you want to go in blind and want that "day one" feeling because you've had some circumstance that's been preventing you to play, post that! There are many people out there looking for the same! Don't join an experienced group and expect them to let you figure it out. AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL: DO NOT join a group asking for experienced only players to just go in and -blam!- the team up because you really have no idea what to do. This is why people have built such a prejudice against the inexperienced, you go in and -blam!- it up for them and they get pissed off. It happened to me three times in a row the other night where I asked for experienced only as I was short on time and three people who claimed they've done it but had no idea what they were doing joined and I went off on them and booted them immediately. Now to end this...if you are inexperienced and looking for someone who has the patience to help you through, next week I will be teaching some buddies and will be happy to bring you along. If you are interested, add me (gt same on Xbox one) and i will help you since I have three 300+ characters already and am just waiting for the heroic version now. We may not get through the entire raid but you will at least learn some of it. But do watch the YouTube videos of you don't know anything!

  • "A.) watch multiple YouTube videos and UNDERSTAND the fights, you should be able to recite the mechanics because there isn't that many. Those that do this often do the best when joining a group of experienced players" Isn't that many? Totems: Two mechanics WarPriest: 5 mechanics (Sphere in the back (minor as it is), platforms, order, buff, "oversoul" Golgoroth: 4 mechanics (bubbles, aggro, Tablet, Ogre poison) Wipeout: 1 painful mechanic Deathsingers: 3 mechanics (Relic, Platforms, post-one death mechanic) Oryx: 9/9.5 (Platform, Relics, Vessel, Stagger, Invincibility aura, Ogres/Corrupted Light, Bombs, Echo, final cry) This excluding sub mechanics (Adept Death AOE), dealing with mobs, etc. Technically knowing to DPS oryx after Corrupted Light counts. For an FPS, that's a LOT of mechanics on Warpriest and Oryx.

  • I know this is a dumb question but I haven't done any raids and I'm more of a casual player that can get in the zone and have some good days... my question is, are the mechanics and methods for these enemies absolutely necessary or can you go in blind and still complete the raid attacking with different strategies? Forgive the noob question lol

  • But a more direct answer...is you should try and understand the general way to kill them. For example, war priest: step on plates in sequence, dps boss, hide from light. Golgoroth: 2 gazers, 4 dps, pop orbs for pool of damage multiplier and shoot him in the stomach, rinse and repeat. Deathsingers: jump on platforms in order counterclockwise, grab relic, group up and dps witch. Oryx: jump on platforms in order, kill ogre, group up in middle; dps oryx, touch bomb, dps oryx, sprint around (above 50% health), kill echo of oryx (below 50% health). Know these general steps and your team should be glad to Ellaborate

  • Awesome thanks! That's really what I was getting at. Are there "set in stone" methods that Everyone had to adhere to in order to complete the raid? Gotcha. Thanks a lot, I'll probably watch a video or two to check out strategies before I give it a shot.

  • I just took a complete noob through the raid a few hours ago in about three hours, and the most important part for anybody new going in is to really try and be a quick learner and be able to follow directions. If you communicate with the people trying to walk you through what you do and don't understand about the mechanics, so you can get some more clarification, the better you and your teammates will do without people getting upset. Another tip is to also expect a little frustration from your teammates once in awhile, just be chill and acknowledge that you are trying your best to figure it out most people can handle it when someone is completely honest about what they do and don't know how to do and are willing to try and help you out. But like I said, at the end of the day the experienced players also don't want to waste a ton more time than it should take trying to teach new players,so the quicker you can learn the strategies on your own the better attitude your teammates will have towards you.

  • Yet a new player would be responsible for maybe 1 mechanic in each part. If you passed highschool, you could know this easily

  • Considering Oryx is a constant stream of mechanics (Platforms -> Ogres -> Aura (Stand in) -> Stagger -> Light -> Stagger -> Bombs) it can still be overwhelming. While it is usually once at a time (2 at any one time sans Light popping) it can still be overwhelming. Not that most MMOs are any different. I mean most mechanics are 1-2 at a time to begin with.

  • I've literally had people who have NEVER done anything in the raid come in and recite the entire fight to me and they do great. It's not that hard
