Now that I have your attention with that obvious click b8 title, I gotta know, why? Why do a lot of guys use predominately female toons?
a "toon" is your character in game
Do gals use male toons? I predominately use male toons, but I'm considering making a female one?...maybe? Dunno. That's why I'm posting this.
Edit 1:
Wow, lots of replies on the survey, not many posts XD
Wish I wasn't on my phone son I could see the actual number of people... :/
Edit 2:
So I'm getting that most people draw their inspiration for their guardians from outside material like real life or movies 'n stuff. That's pretty awesome :D I never thought of that.
Edit 3:
I guess I did something right cause TheGreatNike graced this page with his presence. XD You're everywhere dude!
In other news, it seems like I'm getting a lot of good feed back. Let's keep going. FOR SCIENCE!
Edit 4:
So another general consensus seems to be that if a guy has to look at his toon's ass for an extended period of time, he'd rather look at a girl's ass then a guy's. I can sympathize... but I do prefer to make my toons more based off myself then some random person...maybe that's the difference? The inspiration? We're getting close to a break through guardians. Keep going! FOR SCIENCE!!!
Edit 5:
Holy crap! I can't keep up any more. I'm trying to comment on every post in here but it's not do able any more XD I'll keep reading though. I'm really interested in all your responses.
Also, I wish to reiterate my goal here. This is a non-judgmental environment. I won't judge you, I'm simply curious as to your choice of gender you use on your character. If you're a girl with guy toons or a guy with girl toons, I simply want to know the reasoning behind why you decided to do that. If you're using a toon that's the same gender as you, sweet! Tell me why! Basically, I'm trying to figure out the psychology or mentality of behind why you chose who you play as.
Also, I've been visited by dancing Kirbys! Yeah!!!
Edit 6:
Stupid site logged me out. Give me a sec to write this edit.
Some reasons some players have decided to play as the opposite gender in Destiny are:
-Aesthetics: Simply put, some people believe that certain classes look better as certain genders. Titans are a hot topic. Some say that the males look to fat while others say that the female physique isn't well suited by all the armor. What ever is your preference, more power to ya.
-Diversity: Now this is unique and really cool. I've never heard of this before now and I like it :D Some people commented that they prefer to use female toons for the simple fact that there aren't very many strong female protagonists in gaming. Some even said that they change their toon's ethnicity or race to suit this purpose or making the game more diverse. That's really cool :D Kudos to all y'all!
-Tradition (read it in Tevye's voice XD): Some people have stated that they always play as male/female characters in all the other games they play so they'll continue to do so in Destiny. Sounds like as good a reason as any to me. :)
-Sexiness? (Dunno what to call it): Some people say they just want to be able to look at the opposite gender's specific...parts...If that's what you're in to then...go for it I guess. Moving on... lol
-Inspiration: This one came up earlier in the threads life. Some people said they based their toons off of other things they enjoy doing/reading/watching/playing like movie characters (I've seen an awoken warlock that bore a striking resemblance to the Joker) or characters from tv shows or books 'n stuff. I think it's very creative. 10 POINTS TO GRIFFANDORE! Lol, kudos to you guys to.
-IRL Appearance: I fall in to this category. I usually try to make a character that either looks like me, or in the case of the Exos and Awoken, try to predict what I would look like as that race. I'm a really skinny guy so I usually run thief/assassin/hunter type classes due to the fact that I would never be a big muscley guy with lots of armor and a huge sword/gun/whatever XD My toons usually end up with a more lean build. I also try to give them dark dark blond hair and a nice orange-ish red-ish beard if I can get it since I usually have an excess of facial hair XD
-Other: Any other reasons? It just feels right to choose the opposite gender in that certain game? You don't know why but you're breaking the mold on this one? I dunno. Any reason I didn't list above could go in this category
Edit 7:
This is probably my last edit...unless we start trending or something like that. Anyways, yeah. So the above are my findings. Maybe this helps? Maybe it doesn't? I dunno, I had fun finding out why all y'all choose who ya choose and do what ya do. I'll keep an eye on here and see what's what 'n stuff. Anyways, until next time, see you star side guardians :D
Edit 8:
Okay, I know I said I probably wouldn't do an edit 8, but I wanna say this cause I found something interesting. It seems like guys make girls because they say they like their emotes 'n stuff more then the guy's while I've seen a few ladies post that they like the male toons because of their emotes 'n stuff. Interesting :D

Only one of my characters is a female, my hunter. The reason is, when I started playing Destiny, I thought that a female would fit better in the role of the Hunter. But, a female character of any class looks kinda weird, I have a feeling that the armor was designed for male characters only and when the armor is used on a female it kinda adjusts to her figure, resulting in something weird. Look at female Titans for example.
